WES Weekly Update
October 25, 2024
News from the principal's Office
Hello Families! I hope you have all been doing well and enjoyed that beautiful stretch of warm weather we had earlier in the week. I guess it’s time now to embrace the cooler weather and hopefully that also signals the end of road construction and leaf peepers returning home. This is a good time to remember to send your children to school with appropriate outdoor gear.
So many things are happening at school! We have started the banking program again! Folks from the Union Bank came to our last morning meeting and explained to students that they can open a savings account with them. We have some amazing volunteers (thank you Brandi Broe and Delores Tilton) that come to our school on Thursday mornings to collect money the students bring in and register it in their accounts. If you would like for your child to participate, let us know and we can send home another flier. There is a QR code and a quick application online and then your child is set up with a savings account! The bank deposits the first dollar and students can bring in any amount to deposit each week. It’s a great way for students to learn the power and importance of saving money!
This morning some of our amazing community members came in to do a presentation about fire safety! Jesse Hanley, Corey White, Alex Blair and Ian Shedd came to our school with equipment, a fire truck and a video presentation! Sparky the fire dog and our own Cougar were also in attendance:). A BIG thank you to them!! Also a huge thank you should go out to our own Dana Severance and Alyssa Fuller who took time out of their regular daily work to organize this important event for us!!
This afternoon we are having a fall fest! Students earned enough PAWS to unveil our poster and our first celebration! Students had some choice about what activity they wanted to participate in and will be making fall crafts, games and art this afternoon.
Tonight our WESPO is hosting their Trunk or Treat event at our school. It will run from 6:00-7:30. Thank you WESPO!!
On Monday, I hope you can take some time to head out to the high school for the LNSU safety night! There will be a BBQ, trucks for students to “touch” and some information about what our district does in regard to keeping children and staff safe. More information about this event is included in this newsletter.
