Lakeview Teacher of the Year- Mrs. Allyson Tallin
Congratulations to Mrs. Tallin for being selected Lakeview Elementary's Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Tallin consistently goes above and beyond to support both her colleagues and students, offering her time and resources for both social and academic needs. She readily assists with tasks, teaches lessons, and facilitates team-building activities that strengthen our community. She actively brainstorms interventions to help students succeed and serves as a thought partner, fostering collaboration and innovation among her peers. Ally’s consistent positivity uplifts everyone around her, creating a culture of encouragement and resilience within our school. Mrs. Tallin truly deserves to be recognized as Teacher of the Year. Congratulation, Mrs. Tallin!
We would also like to recognize and congratulate all of our other Teacher of the Year nominees for this year. Congratulations to Mrs. Kristin McMullen (3rd Grade), Ms. Kaitlin Eifert (Kindergarten), Mrs. Fonda Kennedy (2nd Grade), and Mrs. Lisa Rehr (3rd Grade).
Winter Party Information
Our winter class parties will take place on Friday, December 20, from 10-11 a.m. Parent volunteers who are assisting with setup and/or planning parties may enter the building at 9:40 a.m. We ask that you pre-register for the Winter Party by completing Winter Party Volunteer form:
*If you have more than one child, you should complete the form for your oldest child. You only need to complete one form (not one for each child).
We will utilize the playground parking lot for overflow parking, as we did for the Fall Parties. We ask that anyone who is joining us for parties leave campus promptly once parties end so as to clear the parking lot and playground quickly. This allows us to resume recesses in a timely manner. We will share a parking map in the coming weeks to assist with this process.
We also ask that if you are bringing food or snacks or items to pass out, please keep in mind that many students in our building have a variety of food-based allergies.
If you elect to bring your child home after the party, you may do so. Please sign them out with your child's teacher. As we are required to calculate attendance accurately this will count against their attendance total for the year.
We look forward to a great event!
Inclement Weather & AMI Update
We understand this may be a little confusing, so we will share this graphic with a new check mark noting each used snow day to help you stay informed on our current status.
WSD FOCUS Update
Signing Students In/Out
(Very Important Information for Parents- Please Read)
With the update to the Focus software, the way you will sign your student in and out at the office has changed. We are no longer using the touch screen at the front desk. This has been replaced with a scanner kiosk that parents must now use for signing students in and out.
To use the scanner, you must access the barcode of your student located within the Focus app. There are instructions attached on how to access the barcode. Barcodes are not accessible on the Focus website, only the app. If you do not have the barcode when you are signing a student in or out, you must know your student's ID# and enter it manually. Please take the time to screenshot your barcode(s) for easy access when in the office, or write down student numbers in an easy to locate place. Your help in being prepared with this information will allow for a more quick and efficient check-in/out process.
District Emails
If you're not receiving emails from WSD staff or schools, they might be landing in your spam folder. Learn more on how to fix that. You'll want to make sure you familiarize yourself with the district email domain: All district emails are delivered from: noreply@sis.wsdr4.org.

The Cost of an Absence
Help your student and their classmates! Research shows that one student's absence negatively impacts the learning of an entire classroom. Set your student up for success! Students missing 10 days by December are more likely to fail at least one class. Maximise learning time by encouraging attendance when students are not sick.

Wear It Wednesday
Wear it Wednesday!
Every Wednesday at Lakeview is a House Spirit Day, which we call WEAR IT WEDNESDAY! If your child wears a shirt reflecting their house color, they get one house point. We recognize not all families or students have official house shirts, and we want to recognize students who rock their house colors. As a reminder the colors are:
Altruismo - Black
Amistad - Red
Isibindi - Green
Reveur - Blue
If your child comes to school in a house shirt OR wearing a shirt of their color, they earn a point for their house.
