February News Splash
Out of State Team Champions at the Charlotte Meet!
Coaches Message
Happy Anniversary to Greenville Splash! We can't believe it's been 15 years! Greenville Splash began on February 2, 2009. Our first workout was held the morning after the Super Bowl and we had two swimmers that showed up: Craik Davis and Sally Long! It has been so much fun to coach so many swimmers over all the years and watch our club continue to grow with swimmers, coaches and multiple pools. We now have a club with over 100 members. We can't wait to celebrate our anniversary all year long with many fun events planned. Here are some of our biggest accomplishments from the past 15 years:
- Host the Upstate Splash Charity Open Water Swim annually
- Donate funds to local organizations to provide swim lessons for youth and adults
- Host an adult learn to swim program every year that provide free swim lessons to our community
- Host the Greenville Splash Invitational and other swim meets
- Started the Upstate Veterans Swim program
- Awarded club of the year for all of USMS in 2018
- Organize team trips, picnics, parties, socials and other get togethers
- Coached over 7,000 workouts
- Made a difference in our community!
Now is the time to renew annual dues for Greenville Splash and USMS. Thank you to all those that have renewed already. New team swag will be coming soon. Your annual dues help us to fulfill our vision. Your support is appreciated.
Send Leslie results and pictures of your events for our next newsletter. Feel free to email Coach Leslie at greenvillesplash@gmail.com or give me a call if you need any help with anything: 864-283-1328.

Adult Learn to Swim: Volunteer Instructors Needed
We are looking for volunteers to be swim instructors for this rewarding program! Please let Coach Leslie know if you can volunteer for either Monday or Tuesdays evenings in April. We need to get a firm commitment by Feb. 15. It is very rewarding to teach adults to learn to swim. If you have never taught lessons before, I can give you a training session if needed. If you are unable to commit to all 4 lessons, I am also in need of substitutes. If you have any questions about Adult Learn to Swim please talk with myself or Coach Carolyn.

Event Overview
Join us for the premiere of the inspiring documentary film “Beyond the Shoreline: The Channel of Bones.” The Story of Steve Leitch’s harrowing 28 mile journey across one of planet earth’s most treacherous water ways, The Ka'iwi Molokai Channel. Help us share and celebrate one man’s vision and determination to use his talent for endurance swimming as the sweat equity to serve others. This event not only celebrates an incredible feat but also supports a mission close to Steve’s heart; the building of long-term sober living facilities and providing mental health counseling for the foster community.
What to Expect
Exclusive Screening: Be among the first to see this heartening documentary. Journey alongside Steve & Kelly as he battles the tumultuous waters, showcasing resilience, faith, and the power of the human spirit.
Q&A Session: Post-screening discussion with the film’s Director Herschel Zahnd and the Cast. Dive deep into the experiences, challenges, and inspirations behind this extraordinary adventure.
Meet & Greet: An opportunity to meet Steve and Kelly Leitch, hear his stories, and understand his mission up close.
Fundraising Activities: Participate in exciting activities to raise funds for future swims. Every contribution helps build a better future for those in recovery and the foster community.
Community Engagement: Connect with fellow supporters, enthusiasts, and local community members who share a passion for open water swimming and making a difference.
Why Attend?
Be Inspired: Steve's journey is a testament to the strength we can find in faith and determination. His story is sure to inspire not just athletes but anyone facing their own personal 'channels' of challenges.
Support a Cause: Your attendance and participation directly contribute to funding future swims that will be used to raise counseling support for foster children placed with Miracle Hill Ministries’ foster families, and the vision of long term sober living communities in Greenville county.
Community Connection: Meet like-minded individuals and become part of a community that values resilience, sobriety, and helping others.
