New Director of CCMR
SISD Trustees Approve New SHS College and Career Readiness Coordinator
SHS is excited to announce that English teacher Prince Johnson is the new College and Career Readiness Coordinator. The Board of Trustees approved his promotion earlier this week.
“Having had Mr. Johnson serve as a teacher leader in a variety of ways on campus this past year, I have no doubt that he will excel in this new role,” SHS Principal Dr. Graham said. “He is conscientious, thorough, smart and genuinely cares about people. He will be such an asset to our SHS families in this new capacity.”
Johnson is an integral part of the SHS campus — an organized, attentive leader who has developed a rapport with students and teachers.
“I applied for this position because I have a deep desire to help all students have a plan after they walk that stage,” Johnson said. “Each individual’s future endeavors will look differently, but having a plan in place is important. I hope to offer guidance, in partnership with families, to establish and execute that plan.”
Johnson’s experience in the high school setting is not limited to being a beloved campus English teacher. He also has experience in the CCMR (College, Career and Military Readiness) setting.
“I have five years of experience with helping run the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program with Garland ISD,” Johnson said. “The AVID program is designed to prepare students for college and career readiness by providing a range of services to help students succeed, including academic support, college readiness activities, and career exploration opportunities. I hope to be able to use my experiences with this program to help lead us toward our CCMR goals.”
In addition to his experience, Johnson will also build on the already well-established success of the SHS College and Career Readiness program.
“My short term goal is to continue the amazing work and progress that Mr. Mitchell made in the role for so many years,” Johnson said. “They’re big shoes to fill! Long term, I hope to not only continue what has been done in years past, but to also bring in innovative ideas and tools that ultimately help ensure that all students are prepared for life after high school.”
Johnson recognizes that SHS parents will need solid parent support will be key to student success in their future-readiness endeavors.
“Parents can support their students by staying actively involved throughout the process of their child’s future decisions,” he said. “This is such a critical period of time in a student’s life, and some of the best results come from an active partnership between student, parents, teachers, and the CCMR adviser. I look forward to playing an active role in that partnership.”

Clark Mitchell Headed to SMS
Beloved SISD employee Clark Mitchell is moving to the middle school.
Mr. Mitchell will be assisting the campuses with coaching duties and will continue his College, Career and Readiness expertise by teaching the Career Pathways class for seventh and eighth grade students.
"This is a huge win for the middle school campus and for middle school athletics," Athletic Director Cody Stutts said. "Clark will bring his skill as an administrator to our athletics program that will assist in important things like communication, transportation and other important duties. But most importantly, it's a win for our kids because of his experience as a college football player, a motivating person and an overall good human being."
