September Shout Outs!
- The first OPEN PTC Meeting of the school year -- Wednesday, September 11th, 7:00pm at Marie Murphy School. If you're new to Avoca you might not know that there is one single PTC for the district (vs. one at Avoca West and one at Marie Murphy). Visiting an open meeting is a great way to learn how to get involved, what's happening at both schools, and to build connections with other District caregivers and staff. Please consider joining us!
- The District's Ice Cream Social will take place on Avoca West's playground/fields on Thursday, September 12th from 5:30-7:00pm. Kona Ice will be here with cool treats (free of charge) as our students, caregivers, and community come together to play. Thanks to our PTC for sponsoring this event!
- Picture Day is coming up on Monday, September 16th. I've included a scan of the form below (sent home this week) for online ordering.
👀 Student Health Education: Caregiver Opt Out 👀
The Illinois State Board of Education's Instructional Mandates includes specific requirements for Health Education subjects that must be provided for students. Our lessons, whether delivered by a classroom teacher or an outside provider (ex: Victor Pacini or Lurie's) will be age and developmentally appropriate. ISBE also offers clear guidance that caregivers may opt out of instruction in some of these areas.
The form below includes general information about what is covered at each grade level (Kindergarten through 8th grade). If you DO NOT want your student present in class when this topic is addressed through a specific lesson delivered by a teacher or outside provider, please let our staff know using the form below. Only complete this form if you DO NOT want your student present in class when the topics/standards are explicitly covered. This form will be open until September 20th.

NEW TRIER HIGH SCHOOL SEEKS COMMUNITY INPUT ON SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
The New Trier High School Board of Education is embarking on a search for a new superintendent following Dr. Paul Sally’s planned retirement on June 30, 2025, and all community members are invited to share their thoughts. The Superintendent Search Survey takes less than 8 minutes to complete and will close at midnight on Friday, September 6th. Community members are also encouraged to attend one of these upcoming forums:
