HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1| WEEK 1 | 2 FEB 2024
Resilience is really a secular word for what religion was trying to say with the word faith. Without a certain ability to let go, to trust, to allow, we won’t get to any new place.
— Richard Rohr
Hi Everyone,
What a treat to welcome everyone back on Wednesday! Children raring to go, parents looking forward to that coffee after farewelling them - it was a lot of fun!
A number of new families have joined us with their children in Prekindy and Kindy, as well as throughout the Pre-Primary to Year Six classes. We also welcome Aine Walsh - Science specialist teacher, Alicia Matrenza - teacher of Year Four Dominic, and Ian Puzon - teacher of Year Five Catherine. To each of you we hope that your journey here at Holy Rosary School is a happy and life-giving one. We look forward to seeing more of you over the term, starting with the information sessions on Tuesday.
Have a great weekend,
Mark
Some Reminders!
Parking
As you can see from the map, there is plenty of parking around the school. Please use it and, for children in Years 1-6 please also feel free to use the drive through in front of the hall. Please be mindful of our neighbours. Last year we had only a few complaints of people parking in front of the bus stop, in driveways and on verges. The support of the neighbours is important to us and obliging them by treating them well makes life a lot easier.
On Friday morning I saw a black Land Rover Sport going the wrong way through the drive through. We are arranging to have the directional arrows repainted. Keep safe for everyone’s sake!
Parking on Monday 5 February
The Parish have advised us that a large funeral will take place at 10am on Monday 5 February.
Parent Teacher Information Sessions
These take place in class on Tuesday, 6-6.25, and repeated 6.30-7. Year Six arrangements are different as they cover camp as well. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and we recommend you try to get there.
Uniform
Please ensure your charges are wearing complete and correct school uniform, including having appropriate haircuts. The link to the policy can be found here https://hrs.wa.edu.au/media/pages/families/bc82ebdf35-1706830890/uniform-policy.pdf
We can send notes home regarding uniforms to families if need be, but the smart money is on ensuring teachers are not filling in forms but spending their time teaching where it makes the most difference.
Lunch Orders
A huge thankyou to Rose for leading the charge with the new lunch arrangements and to the incredible number of volunteers supporting the change by signing up to help. The roster is completed almost up to November which is amazing!
I’m sure that’s plenty for now. Thank you so much for your support!
Locavora Lunch Orders
Locavora are supplying our lunches for 2024 - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They are a well-regarded company. The process is quite straightforward. It is important to note the cut-off times for ordering lunches:
- Cut off time to place a lunch order is 8:30am for same day delivery Monday and Wednesday.
- To place an order after the cut off time on Monday and Wednesday, please call the store on 9481 4500, our store mobile on 0473 779 244.
- Late orders will not be accepted after 9am Monday to Thursday.
- Due to the high volume of orders on Fridays, the cut off time is 7am Friday for same day delivery.
- Due to the volume of orders, we do not accept any late orders on Fridays.
Catering is for lunch only , so we will all need to bring our own ‘playlunch’ every day from next term.
Our amazing P&F are now managing the distribution of lunches from next term, and even more amazingly, the roster is around 80% filled until November next year! Your support to make this big change work has been nothing short of remarkable - thankyou on behalf of all of our children.

Welcome to 2024 and another exciting year in the HR library. Library classes and borrowing will begin in Week Two. All students require a HR library bag in order to take a book home. There are some available from the office for $19.50, otherwise they can be ordered online. The library will be open at lunchtimes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and students are reminded to check the whiteboard outside the library for any upcoming events or extra information, including the borrowing roster. Have a wonderful Term One!
