During the Registration process you will...
- Go to Website of ACT or SAT(Collegeboard)
- Click the "Register" button
- Create an account (if you do not already have one). Be sure to document your username and password for future use.
- The first time you register, you will be asked to answer questions about yourself (interests, classes you have taken, grades you have made, etc.). Do not stress about the perfect answer. These questions have nothing to do with your test scores. SAT/ACT uses this information for research purposes.
- Identify your High School. It is easier to find the correct Lake View High School, by entering our LVHS School Code (446-110). This ensures that LVHS will also receive a copy of your score report.
- Identify your preferred Test Center (where you want to test). If you would like to test at CHS, you can enter our test center code (CHS Test Center Code for ACT = 162580 & CHS Test Center Code for SAT = 44748).
- Report where you would like your scores sent (i.e. to your prospective colleges, NCAA, etc.). Each college has a 4 digit code (that is different for SAT and ACT). NCAA's code is 9999. You can search for your colleges' codes at ACT College Code Search &/or SAT College Code Search.
- Register for the Test
- Upload a photo of yourself for security reasons. This photo should look like a passport photo (head & shoulders, looking directly at the camera).
- Pay for the test with a credit card. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, you can ask the LVHS Counseling Center Secretary for a waiver that you can use to cover the cost of the test. The waiver will not cover any late fees.
- Print your admissions ticket. This ticket also provides you with helpful information about being prepared for your test date. If your home printer is not working, feel free to ask your counselor for assistance in printing your admission ticket.

Helpful Hints to Remember for Test Day:
Report to: If testing at Central High School: Holmes Hall by 7:55 a.m. (unless you are notified of alternate test site information)
Bring the following items on the day of the test:
- Admissions Ticket
- Photo ID (e.g. Driver's Licence, School ID, etc.)
- 2 sharpened #2 pencils with erasers
- Graphing calculator (Check one out from your math teacher or the Student Service Center).
- We also recommend that you bring a watch (Avoid Smart Watches or ones with alarms), a screw top drink, and a non-messy snack. Food/Drinks are only allowed during breaks.
Prohibited Items: Cell Phones, Electronic Devices, Smart Watches, etc.
When taking the test, remember that...
- ...the SAT/ACT are a timed tests, so avoid spending too much time on one question. Consider marking the ones that you do not know. This will give you time to answer all of the questions that you know, before returning to the ones that you marked for review.
- ...there is no "guessing penalty". Therefore, you should bubble an answer on each question, even if you are not sure; because you might get lucky and get it right.
- ...you should watch your time, so that you have time to bubble all answers before time is called.
Which test is right for you?
Many students like to take both the SAT & ACT, just to see who they will perform on each. However, it is not absolutely necessary. Most colleges accept either test, but it is always a good idea to double-check the Admissions page (for first time freshmen) at the website of your prospective university
