JOIN THE MAYNARD HIGH SCHOOL PTO
Parent volunteers are urgently needed so that Maynard High School can have a PTO this year. The PTO supports the amazing teachers of MHS by brightening their days with food and fun. Parents are needed to donate food for upcoming events, to help with fundraisers, and to help with social media. Please email Mhighschoolpto@gmail.com if you can help this year!
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SPANISH EXCHANGE
From October 17-24, MHS hosted a group of students from our partner school in Tomares, Spain. The group of 12 MHS students bonded with their matches over an action-packed week. This included visiting some MHS classes, typical fall New England activities such as apple picking and pumpkin carving, a visit to Salem to the Salem Witch Museum, the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, and the House of 7 Gables, a walk around Walden Pond, canoeing in the Concord River, the Boston Museum of Science, and a tour of the Massachusetts State House including a meeting with Senator Jamie Eldridge. The Maynard families and students were great hosts and it was difficult to say goodbye to our new friends when they left. Fortunately, we will see them again when the group travels to Tomares to spend a week with them over February break.
CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD FABRICS NEEDED FOR GLOBAL GOODS FUNDRAISER
Maynard High School junior Katie Truch, in coordination with Global Goods, a local nonprofit, is
working on a community service project to raise money for schools in Guatemala and
Indonesia. She is organizing a fundraiser with The Epilepsy Foundation to collect clothing and
household fabrics. There will be a drop off day on Saturday, November 16, from 9-12 and on-
going drop off at MHS from November 4 -22, school hours. Please support Katie with this
worthwhile project and help students from underserved areas gain education.

WAVM BEACON SANTA TELETHON IS COMING
The days are shorter, the temperatures are colder, it must be -- Telethon Season!! Once again, from December 13-15, our WAVM students will provide the Maynard community with a 40-hour weekend of entertainment, all with one goal in mind: raising funds for the Beacon Santa Fund, which makes holiday wishes come true for families throughout our region. You can donate using this link, in a donation can in a local business, or by bringing your auction items to the station. You can also donate your time as a volunteer, supporting our students as they produce their spectacular shows! Contact Mike Basile, Station Manager, at mbasile@maynard.k12.ma.us, with any questions.
MASSACHUSETTS CHANGES THE COLLEGE FINANCIAL LANDSCAPE!
Two year community college degrees and certificates are now free and open to all residents in Massachusetts. You can go to two years of college free of charge! If you then choose to transfer to a four-year institution, you will have cut the cost in half. That is a huge cost savings!
Talk to your School Counselor for more information.
ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK
Yearbook orders will be done online this year through Jostens. The cost is $85 but it is on sale now for $79 until December 31st. After that the price will increase to $85 for the remainder of the year.
