Happy New Year Trix Families!
Did you know how important attendance is for the success of your scholar?
Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
Students can still fall behind if they miss just one or two days every few weeks.
Being late to school may lead to poor attendance. children catch up.
Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves.

SLEEPING iN CLASS
Hello Families!
This past week we noticed a lot of sleeping in class. We know and understand students were off for two weeks due to the holiday break, but sleeping can have a significant impact on your child's academic success,
Adequate sleep is crucial for students' physical and cognitive development, but when students sleep during class, it can impede their ability to absorb information, participate in discussions and engage fully in their learning. Sleep deprivation can lead to reduced attention, memory and problem-solving abilities, all of which are vital for academic achievement.
Additionally, missing out on class instruction means missing valuable opportunities to interact with teachers and peers, ask questions and clarify misunderstandings. Over time, this can lead to gaps in understanding that can be difficult to bridge later on.
If your child is constantly tired in class, it may be helpful to examine their sleep habits. Encouraging a consistent bedtime routine, limiting screen time before bed, and ensuring they get the recommended 8–10 hours of sleep each night can make a big difference in their energy levels and overall performance.
We understand that each student’s needs and challenges are unique, and we are here to support your child in any way we can. If you have concerns about your child’s sleep patterns or academic progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Together, we can help ensure that your child is well-rested, focused, and ready to succeed.
