Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that everyone had a well-deserved rest over the half term and that you managed to enjoy the Halloween season and the very pleasant mild weather.
Thank you to all the families who sent in photos of things you got up to! We have added the photos to the tv screen in the school reception and the children are really enjoying seeing each other on the screen!
Here is a few of the photos sent it to us.
This week’s ‘Memorable Moments’ in the curriculum
Remembrance
Over the past few weeks, all the children have been remembering those fallen in wars around the world and we have created a whole school wreath which is displayed in our school entrance in their memory.
On Sunday 10th November, a few school representatives will attend a Remembrance Parade and Service in Pontefract where they will lay a wreath in the wreath-laying ceremony.
Diwali
Learning about other Faiths and Cultures features significantly in our school curriculum. This week, pupils have been learning about the Hindu Festival of Diwali and our Reception pupils have learned a Diwali Dance and tried some Indian foods. They really enjoyed learning about this wonderful festival of light.
Sengoku Martial Arts – Featherstone and Gipton
This term, Year 4 are accessing a Martial Arts workshop delivered by Sengoku Martial Arts based in Fetherston and Gipton. The programme will give the pupils an insight into Martial Arts and support with their gross motor skills.
Dental Health
On Wednesday, Year 3 had a visit from a local Dental Health Nurse who came to speak with the children about their oral hygiene.

Children in Need 2024
We’re excited to announce that on 15th November, our school will be participating in a fun-filled day to support Children in Need! This year, each class will be organising a sponsored activity to help raise funds, and we invite all pupils to join in the fun and make a difference!
On the day, pupils are encouraged to dress up in non-uniform, spots or in yellow clothes with a suggested donation of £1 which will go directly to Children in Need.
We’re also excited to bring back our popular Pudsey Pennies! Pupils are encouraged to bring in coins to help fill our large Pudsey Bear cut-out. This activity is a wonderful visual way to see our contributions grow throughout the day and provides another fun way to raise money for Children in Need.
Below are the sponsored activities which have been selected by each class:
EYFS - Danceathon
Year 1 - Sponsored Obstacle Course
Year 2 - Sponsored Fitness Routine
Year 3 - Sponsored walk
Year 4 - Run 400 laps of the school field throughout the week as a class.
Year 5 - Danceathon – 1000 minutes of Dancing
Year 6 - Reach 7500 skips as a class throughout the school day!
Teachers will be sending out more information on Class Dojo about their classes specific activities.
We have set up a JustGiving page for sponsorship money and donations to paid into. Please use this link https://shorturl.at/tbJW1
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us make a positive impact for Children in Need. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
