Parent Drop off and Pick Up Procedures
All parents dropping off students before school will need to use the parent loop in the back of the building or the swimming pool parking lot. We separate the buses drop off and parent drop off for safety. Our primary focus is to keep everyone safe every day. This can be accessed from the swimming pool parking lot or off of E. 8th St. Please pull ahead as far as you can before dropping off your child.
In the mornings, students will be able to enter the building through the 5th grade doors starting at 7:30 a.m. Prior to 7:50 a.m. they will need to go through the building to their grade level waiting area. At 7:50 all three playground doors will be open.
Only buses are allowed to use the bus lane during student drop off and pick up times. A Jefferson staff member will supervise the entrance on Vermeer and redirect any parents to the designated student drop off and pick up areas.
Parents picking up their children will use the following procedures:
- Each grade level has a holding area where the students will wait with a grade level teacher.
- When your car has moved completely into the loading zone, your child will notify the teacher and we will allow them to get into your vehicle.
- Students will be kept in the holding area until cars have moved forward to fill the loading area spaces; this allows traffic to move safely and efficiently.
- Reminder: Students may only load into a vehicle once it has moved forward and parked in the loading zone. We do not allow students to cross traffic lines or run down to cars outside of the loading zone.
Children are allowed to walk to the swimming pool lot to be picked up and are not asked to stay in the holding area. They may walk down the sidewalk along the parent driveway.

Jefferson Construction Update
This summer was another busy one for the construction projects at Jefferson. The work on the new wing connecting Jefferson with the Middle School is moving along on schedule. At this time it is scheduled to be completed by Christmas break.
The cafeteria renovation started in June. This project will add a second serving line and more seating for our students and staff. This part of the project is currently scheduled to be completed in November.
A lot of additional work was completed this summer on the fire detection and HVAC systems.
We are very excited to have this project completed soon and be able to utilize all the new and updated spaces.
