While September seemed like a very long month, October is gearing up to be jam packed with activities. Be sure to note that there is no school on Friday, October 4 and Friday October 11 is an additional minimum day. Thank you in staying connected with our school community.
Additionally, the grading period ends on Friday, October 11. Please be sure to check your student's grades Parent Portal now to ensure your student is on track. De Portola Foundation Meeting @ 4PM this Tuesday
It was determined at our September De Portola Foundation Meeting that they will now hold their meetings at 4:00pm instead of 6:00pm. Please join us this week in the staff lounge which can be accessed by the pedestrian gate on the east side of the front office. The executive board presents budget and upcoming events. Mrs. Hart, ASB Teacher, and myself provide updates about school activities. The meeting lasts just about an hour. We look forward to seeing you there!
Willy Wonka Jr. Auditions
If you are interested in being part of our after school theater program this year, auditions are starting next week Tuesday Oct 8 after school from 2:45-4pm in Weiner Hall. The show this year is Willy Wonka Jr. This is only for those who would like to be on stage. If you would prefer to work backstage we will have more information coming at a later date.

If your child contacts you during the school day about feeling unwell please direct them to the health office for evaluation before proceeding with pick-up.
Kona Ice 10/2
Kona Ice will join us at lunch this Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024.
Small - $5
Medium - $6
Large - $7
Refillable - $8
Students can pay with cash. Kona Ice also accepts Apple Pay, so students will be permitted to use their phone at point of purchase. The sales from Kona Ice go directly to the PE Department for equipment.
De Portola Field Hockey
Field Hockey is having an informational meeting on Tuesday 10/1 in room B13 at lunchtime.
Primetime's Octoberfest 10/25
All Families are welcome to join Primetime's Octoberfest. This event will be on campus starting at 4pm, October 25th. Donations are welcome, please e-mail deportolapt@ymcasd.org with any questions.

Late Bus
The late activity bus started Monday, September 16th. We have it scheduled for Mondays' and Wednesdays' departing at 4:10pm. If your student rides the bus and needs to stay after school for tutoring, they will have about a little more than an hour to do so. Please note, they need to have their Z-Pass to get on the school bus.
Appointments and Absences
Full day absences need to be reported to Charisma Johnson at cjohnson7@sandi.net. Please include your student's full name, DOB, reason for illness and the day or dates they are absent.
Food Deliveries
We do not accept food deliveries for students. Additionally, parents cannot drop off fast food for their student (Subway Included). If a student forgets their lunch, we offer free lunch every day. If a parent drops off a student's lunch bag, we will have the student come up to office at 12:00pm. If a parent brings lunch from Cotijas (or anywhere else), we ask that you stay and enjoy it with your student.
Middle School Athletics
All sports practice throughout the year will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:45 - 4:30 with games on Saturdays. Students can only participate in one sport per season. FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
For the 2024-25 school year, De Portola Middle School will provide both BREAKFAST and LUNCH for all students. Breakfast will be served in the lunch arbor from 7:30 - 7:50 AM. Students just need to input their six digit student ID number and make their food selection.
