This is Noel Keener, the proud principal of Ragsdale High with this weeks updates.

There is only 1 week left before school starts Monday, August 26 at 9:10am. Students can enter at 8:55 and are late after the 9:15 bell.

Please remember we will have Open House Tuesday, August 20 from 5pm until 7pm. Kona Ice and Ghassans Food Truck will be on site. Come out, get your schedule, find your bus route, and meet your teachers! That evening you will be able to learn more about our Title I plan, and join our Booster Club and PTSA! Rising Freshmen and those New to Ragsdale will have the opportunity to meet 1 on 1 with our support staff to help your student get off on the right foot this school year! Please remember that you cannot park in the pull around circle or on the practice field.

We also want to share that the cost of game entrance has increased to $9. You can use a credit card, Apply Pay or Google Pay at the gate or purchase your ticket online at gofan.co. Cash is not accepted at the gate. Please download the rSchoolToday app to keep up with the latest scheduling information. We also enforce a clear bag policy at large athletic events.

It is time to purchase your parking pass! See our website or come to the school for your Parking Permit. Cost is $50. You must also have a valid drivers license and present your registration. Please read all the requirements and note that drivers with more than 6 unexcused tardies to school in a semester will have his or her parking privileges suspended.

Schedules for the 2024-2025 school year are OUT!

The Schedule Change Request form is posted on our website and is open until Friday, August 30 at end of day (4:30pm).

This year, Ragsdale will be using the SmartPass Electronic Pass system for student passes. This system allows for streamlined process so that we can maximize classroom time, as well as safety so that we are always aware of who is and should be in the hallways. Your child will hear more about this system as the school year begins.

• Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Pfeiffer did a fantastic job organizing our students as they performed acts of service for our opening on Friday- cleaning, setting up, doing bulletin boards, moving books. Today they painted the stadium and the crosswalks as well as touching up the stadium!
• Shout out to our athletic teams and their coaches! Volleyball is currently 3 and 0, Soccer is currently 2 and 0 and Football won their scrimmage Friday Night at Grimsley vs. Asheboro. GO TIGERS!

Guilford County Schools (GCS) has a clear bag policy for all athletic events that went into effect on September 23, 2022. The policy aims to keep students, staff, and fans safe. The following bags are allowed:

• Clear plastic or vinyl bags that are no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"
• One gallon-sized clear plastic storage bag
• Small, clutch bags that are no larger than 4.5" x 6.5"
• Medical bags
• Diaper bags with an infant or toddler present

We also want to make sure you are aware of our electronic ticketing system, which aims to streamline the ticketing process and enhance the overall experience for spectators. It is important to note that we will also be offering the option for spectators to purchase tickets at the gate using a credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. To ensure a contactless and efficient entry process, we kindly request that no cash be taken at the gate.

Lastly, please be informed that our ticket price has been increased to $9.00 per event districtwide.

Per CDC recommendations, the Guilford County Public Health Department has issued the notice below for updated COVID-19 isolation recommendations. Most specific to GCS is that the isolation period for those who get sick has been reduced to isolating at home away from others until 24 hours after symptoms improve and fever subsides without the use of medication. After isolation, the individual should continue with enhanced prevention strategies for the next five days, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and improving hygiene and air quality.

The new Parent Portal Access Request form is now live. Parents/Guardians will use the form to request access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal, request assistance with creating an account, or have their password reset.

The link has been shared in the GCS Media Brief and posted to the Guilford Parent Academy’s website. We are asking all schools to post the link to their websites under the Parent tab > Parent Portal Access Request Form.
