A Look Into Our Panther Community
Eighth-grade science students have been exploring the concept of collisions over the past few weeks. Through hands-on lab activities, they've investigated how objects made of different materials react to collisions of varying forces and directions. They’ve also practiced designing their own experiments, collected data, and analyzed their results, focusing on both vertical and horizontal collisions.
Family Consumer Science students had the opportunity to learn about plating techniques and use that to create a Halloween theme plated dessert. Each group received a brownie and had the same pool of materials to work with. They planned their design and had 30 minutes to execute it the next day. Teachers came to judge their finished plates and winners were picked in each class. It was so fun!!
Seventh-grade students have begun reading the novel Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson as a class. Engaging with a shared novel encourages collaboration and inspires fresh ideas. Harbor Me follows the lives of six students, each facing their own unique challenges and sharing their own personal stories.
As our 8th graders prepare for the exciting transition to 9th grade, we want to ensure they are ready for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Recently, students participated in a presentation from VOAG (Vocational-Agricultural Program), which introduced them to various high school pathways and career-focused learning options. We encourage you to begin discussing with your child their interests and goals for high school and beyond. We look forward to partnering with you as we prepare students for this next transition. We have many opportunities for students to learn about their options for next year including the amazing opportunities we offer at East Hampton High School. We will discuss all of this at our 8th grade Parent Night.
Middletown High School Ag Science is now accepting applications for the 2025-26 school year! Interested seventh or eighth grade students and families are encouraged to attend an upcoming Open House on November 13 at 6:30 PM, pre-registration is requested at this link: https://forms.gle/M19Y2oyJUzmxSMUSA
For more information about the MHS Ag Science program, visit their website. Below is a 5 minute video presentation.
The Sandy Hook Promise and SAVE programs are promoting all schools to embrace diversity and be inclusive by promoting peace and helping to put an end to violence. EHMS will be part of this as recognize National Safe School Week. Our Panther Ambassadors have planned a variety of activities for the week.
Our EarlyAct members helped sell Luminary Bags for the Walk of Hope which was a successful night. The EHHS track was lined beautifully with the bags.
School Pictures are Ready!

Clubs & Activities at EHMS
We are working to finalize our club advisors and the days that clubs will meet. Communication will be shared either in Parentsquare or our Panther Posts to provide families with details on clubs and the process for students to sign up. We encourage all our students to try an activity out and would love for everyone to be part of something here at East Hampton Middle School.
More to come!

Nurse's Corner
Friendly reminders from your school nurse:
*School field trips are starting to pop up! Please make sure I have your child's medication/s in the health office so that they may participate.
*There are lots of germs going around right now so please remember to keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Even if it's just for the morning so you can reevaluate and send them to school if they have improved. Reminder that you should be fever-free for 24 hours to return to school WITHOUT fever reducing medication. Students must be able to keep food and fluids down (without vomiting or diarrhea) in order to return.
Thank you for your continued support!
Attendance Reminder
Per the East Hampton Board of Education’s Attendance Policy and Connecticut statute, parents and guardians may only approve the first 9 absences of the school year with a parent note. Absences 10 and above can only be excused with further documentation and under specific circumstances.
In addition, if a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs. Learn more about the services offered at your child’s school and enroll today at SBHC1.com!
