Looking back and ahead at Windsor news and happenings...
Dear Windsor Families,
Hoping this weekend's message finds you well! We survived Friday the 13th and then some! Here is ourWeek at Windsor.
PTA Thank You!
Our PTA supports our school in many different ways. We so appreciate the different volunteers who assist with our LMC, classroom copying, assessment schedules, etc. in addition to serving on many different PTA committees and planning various events to benefit our school. Special thanks to the Windsor Cares Committee and families who have donated towards gift cards and food pantry items to provide a small boost to our school community at this holiday time of year. We will be sending out more information for a Thursday 12/19 evening 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Windsor winter break food pick up for any interested families.

Coding Week at Windsor
Mrs. Kathleen Corley planned and our LMC team and teachers supported a wonderful week of coding for all Windsor classes. This coding week allows all of our students to get exposure and have experiences teachers can build upon this school year and in future years as well.
Why Coding in Elementary School? "I think the reasons for learning to code are the same as the reasons for learning to write. When we learn to write, we are learning how to organize, express, and share ideas. And when we learn to code, we are learning how to organize, express, and share ideas in new ways, in a new medium." Our @WindsorWildcats (click link) Twitter page features many great photos and video learning moments from the week.
Fifth Grade Band
Congratulations to Mrs. Carolyn Schneider and our fifth grade Band members on a fantastic first performance Friday morning. We understand what a large commitment Band can be for students and families. It is so rewarding to see their progression over time! More highlights can be found on our @WindsorWildcats Twitter page!
Be a Part of Something Great! ABC/25
Ever wonder where those Coding Dash and Dots, BeeBots and Portable STEM Carts came from...grants made possible by the ABC/25 Foundation! The ABC/25 Foundation is a non-for-profit organization founded by a group of caring parents to give A Better Community for District 25 by fostering innovation, creativity and excellence in our schools. Over the past 24 years, the Foundation has raised and contributed over one million dollars to fund numerous projects and grants for District 25 which directly impact students and teachers!
Are you a member of the ABC/25 Foundation? If not, you're missing out on an amazing way to support the D25 schools! Proceeds from the $40 family memberships go directly to fund grants that allow D25 teachers and staff to access tools and resources that aren't available through curriculum budgets. Learn more about the wonderful things ABC/25 is doing in our community at www.abc25.org and become a member here! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to ABC/25 Windsor Liaison, Elyse Coval at elysecoval@hotmail.com.
ABC/25 Get Burbed! Challenge
There's still time! We'd love for you to submit your designs for this year's ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge poster and t-shirt. Any District 25 student can participate! Your design could be featured on hundreds of posters and t-shirts around town.
Click here for the official rules and entry form. All entries are due by December 18, 2019. We can't wait to see your creative designs! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and now Instagram for the most recent race updates.
Lost and Found
We will pack up unclaimed Lost and Found items during the Winter Break and donate them to a local organization.
Illinois 5 Essentials Survey
Here is a previously sent letter explaining the Illinois 5 Essentials. Fourth and fifth grade students will take the survey some time in January/February after we return from the Winter Break.
Please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ to take the parent survey. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact 5Essentials Customer Support at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.
Dress for Winter Weather
Students should come to school appropriately dressed for outside weather, whether it be for morning arrival time or recess. We will always ask children to put on their coats/winter accessories when temperatures are below 60 degrees. (We stay inside when "feel like" temperatures are below 0 degrees.) We can only send students outside in what they wear to school. Please double check and reinforce your expectations for your child as they go outside during school hours. We appreciate your support!
Cold and Flu Season
We are seeing a few more instances of illness. Here is a letter with information and reminders. We will promote safe and healthy habits here at school as well.
