KHS Update
From Principal Hollenbeck
Welcome to Kennedy High School! I'm Molly Hollenbeck, the proud principal. As I start my third year, I'm focused on our community's strength and the positive impact we can all make.
Our school vision is: "In the service of all kids, we are a community of belonging, support, and excellence." This vision guides our work, and you should see it reflected in our interactions. I ask for your partnership in making this vision a reality.
I'm supported by three wonderful Assistant Principals. You can see their pictures and contact information below.
I look forward to partnering with you and celebrating our community throughout the year and during these two key back to school events:
9th grade and new student family orientation: Monday, August 19: 6 PM - Kennedy High School Auditorium
Kennedy Connect Day: Wednesday, August 21: 11 AM - 7 PM - Kennedy High School
Feel free to reach out or introduce yourself when you see me around!

Student Support Teams
Have a question? If it is class related, start with your student’s teacher. If you need a place to start, our student support team members are here to provide support.
All students will have the opportunity to review and are expected to follow the Kennedy Student Handbook.
To Do: Please help our students receive additional funding and reduced fees for programs by completing this Educational Benefits & Free and Reduced Lunch application.
Excellence 🎓
Attendance
First hour starts at 7:50 AM. It is important for students to be at school by 7:45 AM. Free breakfast is available in the cafeteria from 7:15-7:45 AM.
Students who are not in class at the final bell will need a pass to enter. Before getting a pass, staff will help students call home to notify a parent or guardian. This helps maintain strong partnerships between home and school.
Students are not eligible to participate in any after school sport or activity if they miss any part of the academic day as indicated by an unexcused or unexplained absence (AUX, A) or unexcused or unexplained tardy (TUX or T) in Infinite Campus. Students are also not eligible to participate when they have been out of school suspended for all or part of the day. Eligibility is not impacted by excused or exempt absences (AEX, AEM) or excused or exempt tardies (TEX, TEM).
We are a closed campus. To ensure a safe learning environment and community, students should not leave the campus during the school day. Please talk with your student about this and reinforce your expectations for class and school attendance.
If your student is late or missing school for an excused reason, please contact attendance at (952) 681-5002 or khsattendance@isd271.org
PSAT for 10th and 11th grade students only
The PSAT /NMSQT is an optional standardized test that 10th and 11th graders can take on October 9 at Kennedy. It measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing and math students learn in the classroom - the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career.
By taking the PSAT/NMSQT as a junior, students may meet the requirements to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. By taking the PSAT as a sophomore, students will not be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program. However, these sophomores will be able to identify their academic strengths and weaknesses early in high school by taking this test.
If you would like to take the test, please sign up here and your Infinite Campus account will be billed $18. If you run into any problems with this payment option, please reach out to your student’s Counselor. Registration deadline is August 15.
