A message from Mr. Rose
Hello Wilson Wildcats!!
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Wilson Elementary School District:
As we welcome the vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are reminded of the rich cultural contributions that our Hispanic and Latino communities bring to our schools and our nation. This month is a special time to honor the histories, cultures, and achievements of Hispanic Americans whose roots trace back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. At Wilson Elementary School District, where 82% of our student population identifies as Latino, this celebration is especially meaningful.
Throughout the month, our schools will engage in a variety of activities and programs that highlight the diverse traditions and stories that shape our community. From classroom projects to school-wide events, students will have the opportunity to learn about and celebrate the influential figures, past and present, who have contributed to our society’s cultural mosaic.
Spotlight on Employee Excellence: Mark Sikora
In addition to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to take a moment to recognize the dedication and hard work of Mark Sikora from our facilities department. Mark’s commitment to keeping our school facilities in top shape is truly commendable. His attention to detail and tireless efforts behind the scenes ensure that our students and staff have a clean, safe, and welcoming environment every day.
Mark’s contributions are a vital part of our school district’s success, and I want to extend my deepest appreciation for his outstanding work. It is employees like Mark who exemplify the spirit of teamwork and excellence that make Wilson Elementary School District a great place for our students to learn and grow.
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the contributions of all our dedicated staff, let us continue to work together to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every member of our community feels valued and appreciated.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our students and our district.
Sincerely,
Ernest Rose

Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month!
What a fabulous start of the year we have had so far. Our youngest scholars have adjusted beautifully the last four weeks. There were a few tears, but as soon as they entered the classroom, they shed the tears and smiles appeared. We are continuing to practice routines and procedures to ensure that our students learn our systems and structure of everyday learning. We are so happy to see all of them here!
During the teacher orientation week, four of our life-long Wilson teachers were honored and celebrated by our generous partners of BOK Financials and Salvation Army. Ms. Marinakos, Ms. Salais, Mr. Sanchez, and Mr. Heuett were recognized for their dedication and commitment to Wilson by receiving items from their wish list. The items included a 3D printer, backpacks, games, and other supplies that the students would enjoy. Fox 10 news was here too to broadcast the celebration!
We will continue with building school spirits and positive energy! We will be celebrating our first One in a Million Teacher, Ms. Aguilar, this month. Please continue to nominate a teacher by going to the QR code!

Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month!
We had an amazing start to the new year. The theme for this year is “Family Road Trip; Road to Success”. We kicked off with a great teacher orientation week where teachers and staff got together to learn the new systems, programs, and structure of the schools. It was a wonderful way to join the members of the Wilson Primary School and Wilson Elementary School together and began building relationships amongst the staff. We are on our way to creating great things!
Our first assembly was held at the beginning of the year to review the expectations and procedures for the schools. Students and staff were pumped up for the new school year! The Elementary School even played a fun interactive game to bring everyone laughing and clapping for their grade level!
We are continuing to celebrate our fabulous educators. Please go to the QR code and nominate a teacher for the One in a Million Recognition!
Have a wonderful month!

As we enter September, it’s a wonderful time to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures within the Wilson Family. This month, from September 15 to October 15, we honor Hispanic Heritage Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American pioneers who have inspired others to achieve greatness. Established in 1968, this observance shines a spotlight on the unique voices and experiences of Hispanic/Latino Americans.
Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity for us all to appreciate their history, journeys, and accomplishments. By celebrating diverse cultures, we not only inspire younger generations but also foster a sense of community and unity. Remember, embracing different cultures encourages new ways of thinking and understanding.
As educators, we all play a crucial role in helping our students feel valued and honored. Remember the impact of your words and actions, and know that together, as a team, we can uplift one another. During Hispanic Heritage Month, take a moment to consider how you can make someone feel truly appreciated!
Community Center
As we step into the vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th, the Willson Community Center is proud to honor the rich cultural traditions, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month is a time to celebrate not only the diverse cultures that have helped shape our nation but also the power of community that unites us all.
Hispanic and Latino cultures are deeply rooted in the values of family, community, and mutual support. These values resonate strongly with the mission of the Willson Community Center, where we strive to create a welcoming space for everyone, fostering connections and building a sense of belonging. Hispanic Heritage Month provides a perfect opportunity to reflect on how these values enhance our community and contribute to the richness of our shared experiences.
At the Willson Community Center, we believe that community is about more than just proximity—it’s about coming together to support one another, share in each other’s successes, and celebrate our diverse backgrounds.
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, let us take the time to reflect on the importance of community in our lives. The Willson Community Center is committed to being a place where everyone feels welcome and can come together to celebrate our differences and commonalities. This month, we honor the contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a community where every culture is recognized and appreciated.
