Hello Lowell Families! I want to thank all of you for taking time this week to extend your appreciation and support to our Lowell teachers and staff! I would like to acknowledge our outstanding Lowell staff and again wish all of our teachers Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers do so much more than teaching. They create environments that inspire success, and give students the confidence and skills to follow their dreams. Each one makes an impact that lasts today, tomorrow, and forever. For all the things they do, for who they are and for who they inspire us to become, we offer our most sincere thanks to our teachers.

I would also like to extend appreciation for our frontline workers, especially our nurses, as we celebrated National Nurses Day this past Wednesday! We are so thankful for Nurse Deb and all she does for our Lowell students and staff! And we want to extend a huge thank you for all of you who are frontline workers for the sacrifices you make and all that you do to serve others.

Online registration for Preschool and Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year is now available on our website under the Explore Tab. If you are a current Warren Early Childhood Center parent and your child will be attending a Warren Elementary School for kindergarten, please call our hotline number at 317-608-0545 and we will assist in getting your information moved over. If you have a new Preschool or Kindergarten student attending Warren, please use the online registration process. We are also accepting out of district applications at this time. Lowell is hosting a Scholastic Online Book Fair starting on May 6 and running through May 19. Ordering is now open. It's a great way to find some good books for summer reading! Again, the book fair runs from May 6 - May 19.

Online registration for Preschool and Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year is now available on our website, warren.k12.in.us, under the Explore Tab. You may register your child now. MSD of Warren Township is evaluating our technology needs and how to better serve our families and students of the district. Since iPads and Chromebooks require a WiFi connection, we are interested to know whether our students have access to WiFi at home. We are asking the parents of our K-4 students to please take a few minutes to complete an important survey to help us to better understand the technology needs of our families. We have distributed student devices to most of our Lowell students. If you were unable to pick up your child's device but would like to have their device at home to use for Learn at Home lessons, please contact Mrs. Griffin to make arrangements. Mrs. Hand, our school counselor, is hosting two Monday Meet-Ups for students who would like to pop into a zoom session and just check-in and maybe play some games. The District will be making a couple of adjustments to our food outreach program starting the week of May 4th. We will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11am -1pm at 11 locations. Renaissance School, located at 30th and Post Road, will be a new site and will replace Hawthorne Elementary. Wednesdays will continue to be 5:30pm- 7pm at 2 locations. We will continue on Wednesdays at Lakeside Elementary and will add a new site at our Moorhead location at 8400 East Tenth Street. Because there is a need for a refrigerated space, we could no longer use Post Road Christian Church. We appreciate Post Road Christian Church and their partnership with our food outreach program. Playworks has for over 24 years focused on bringing games and activities to schools, while creating a safe and healthy recess for students. We are now, more than ever, committed to responding to the need for continued healthy activities at home through several resources we are offering for free:

• Play at Home Webpage: A library of videos and other resources featuring games and activities families can play at home. Each meeting the CDC requirements of social distancing and limited equipment. All available free on the Play at Home webpage

• Play at Home Playbook: This game guide has a variety of games and activities families can do in their own home, with little to no equipment necessary.

• Live Virtual Recess: A Playworks Coach leading a morning warm-up, a midday game, and an afternoon cooldown each day. Anyone can tune into Facebook Live Monday- Friday at 12:00pm, 2:00pm, and 4:00pm EST and play along.
