Message From Mr. Pertzborn
Dear Lodi Middle School Students and Families,
It was great to see so many families attend Parent Teacher Conferences in February. These meetings are a valuable time to connect, reflect on student progress, and set establish our partnership in helping all students grow. Your collaboration is instrumental in supporting our students, and we genuinely appreciate your involvement. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to families who provided food for our staff during this busy time. Your kindness and generosity do not go unnoticed!
With spring on the horizon, our school has a renewed sense of energy. The anticipation of outdoor activities, longer days, and spring break bring a sense of excitement. As we transition into the spring, our focus remains on supporting every student to finish the year strong.
Thanks for your continued support, and best wishes for a wonderful start to spring!
Take care and see you soon!

Student and Family Information
Forward Exam
Students of the Lodi Middle School will be participating in the Wisconsin Forward Exam from April 7-17. The Wisconsin Forward Exam tests students in English/Language Arts and Math in grades 6 through 8. In addition, students in 8th grade will be assessed in Science and Social Studies. One or more subtests may be administered daily during the identified timeframe and it is very important that your son or daughter be in school during this time. Students not in school on the scheduled days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.
Attached is an Informational Brochure for Families which gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used. The Wisconsin Forward Exam measures the knowledge and skills your student(s) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your student to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations or placement in classes to best support your child(ren).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your student’s teacher.
Supporting Our Students - Feminine Hygiene Dispensers Now Available - Accepting Donations
As a part of our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment, Lodi Middle School is installing feminine hygiene dispensers in the girls' restrooms. Our goal is to ensure that all students have access to essential hygiene products, allowing them to focus on learning without unnecessary stress or embarrassment.
Middle School is a time of growth and change, and we recognize that navigating the first experiences with menstruation can be challenging. By providing these resources, we hope to ease any anxiety and ensure that no student feels unprepared or unsupported. While we encourage students to bring their own menstrual products, these dispensers will be available when needed.
To support with this initiative, we are accepting donations of feminine hygiene products. If you'd like to contribute, please drop items at the Lodi Middle School office. Your generosity helps us create a caring and empowering environment for all students. Thank you for your support.
How to Support My Child in Middle School
Family should always remain the center of a child's life, providing the guidance, support, and values that help shape their future. As children grow and become more independent, it's natural for them to seek privacy, but staying involved in their lives is essential. It's okay to be a little "nosey" - ask about their day, know their friends, check their social media, and stay engaged with their school work. Being present and aware shows your child you care, helps them navigate challenges, and reinforces the importance of family as a source of love and stability. Your involvement makes a difference!
Things to Ask Your Kids....(3 Questions Each Month)
Here are three questions to ask your teen this week to get them to open up:
1. What was the best part of your day today?
2. How do you usually handle stress? Is there anything I can do to support you?
3. What's something you are really proud of accomplishing recently?

Student of the Month - January - Respect
Throughout the academic year, our school community emphasizes the importance of fostering an environment where respect is at the forefront of every interaction. It is clear that these students have not only embraced this value but have consistently demonstrated an exceptional commitment to treating others with kindness, consideration, and dignity. These students have shown deep respect for teachers and fellow students in the classroom. These students have a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate and contribute significantly to the positive and respectful atmosphere within our school.
Congratulations to the January Students of the Month!
Attendance Matters
Attendance Matters
Showing up for school on a regular basis has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and become more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important to success in school and life.
Attendance Protocol
This is a reminder of the importance of reporting an absence if a student is going to be missing from school. Families can complete the Absence Form (button below) instead of calling or emailing the office; however, if you have questions or are unable to complete this form, you can still call the attendance line: (608) 592-3854 x 0 or email the school office at msoffice@lodischoolswi.org.
This form is also accessible through the Lodi Middle School Homepage with the link that says "Report an Absence" on the main page.

Message from LCAT
The Lodi Community Action Team (LCAT) was established in 2007 to address alcohol use among teens in the Lodi area. Over time, LCAT began to analyze the data collected in the community and assess actual events. This led to efforts to educate the community about the dangers of risky behaviors and promote a safer environment for our children.
In the winter of 2024, a strategic plan was developed to guide LCAT's initiatives. This plan is built on three key pillars: engage, empower, and elevate. With these pillars in mind, we aim to fulfill our mission of empowering our school and community to prevent youth substance use through education, environmental prevention strategies, and fostering connections with caring adults. Our quarterly newsletter is a way to share projects, events, trainings, and meetings.

Message from Food Service
March 2025 Middle School Newsletter
Welcome to March Madness!
I want to say thank you to everyone who participated in our Chef on Display Day. Chef Camilo made
everyone Korean BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos with Korean Slaw. They were a huge hit with students and staff. Chef Camilo enjoyed meeting and talking with the students about the culture behind the food. We love educating students about where food comes from and different cultures. Our Chef Council travels around the world to learn about food from different cultures and how to make it. They work hard to bring authentic meals to our schools that reflect the trips that they take. This year they are traveling to China so I look forward to more fun recipes for us to try!
The first week in March is National School Breakfast Week so we will be offering two choices at
breakfast everyday so more students can participate and celebrate this week. Our Harvest of the Month are as follows-Fruit=Meyer Lemon, Vegetable= rutabagas and the spice is Chamomile. Watch our menu to see where we incorporate these things. Make sure you try them! Our United Tastes of America Iconic eats feature this month is Philly Steak Sandwich. The soul food meal last month went over great. Everyone loved the oven fried chicken and mac and cheese and even the collard greens were given the thumbs up! Thank you for being open to new things and trying foods that are not familiar.
I also want to give a special thank you to Michelle Howe and her class for all the lettuce they grow and donate to the foodservice fruit and vegetable bar. We really appreciate the efforts and the awesome lettuce that comes from those efforts. Thank you again Michelle!
Enjoy a few pictures from Chef Camilo’s visit.
