Happy Mother's Day! This Sunday we celebrate our moms who work tirelessly to take care of the children they are blessed to call their own. Please pray for all of the women who nurture and guide their children as they grow into adults and as they continue to encourage and support their families for their entire lives.

This week, we celebrated our educators who work many hours to provide a quality education to your children. When I was growing up, there were many times that I found myself in a teaching position even at a young age. We used to set up a school classroom in the basement and I would pretend to be the teacher to my brothers and sister and neighbor kids. I remember being asked to sub for the teacher when they were absent while I was in Eighth Grade at Nativity School in Lorain. Being in the education system for over 38 years has been a rewarding career but working in a Catholic School is a calling. This week St. Mary School was approved to accept Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarships. Why is this important, you may ask. It is just another way that we are able to service children in a faith based educational setting. Coming from a Special Education background and being passionate about meeting the needs of all children, it is exciting that we will be able to offer an additional way to fund services for students with disabilities.

Don't forget we are continuing to accept applications for students for the 2020-2021 School Year. Being a small school has it's advantages for social distancing and scheduling as we look forward to the upcoming school year. EdChoice Scholarships are still available for tuition.The deadline for EdChoice Scholarships is May 30th. If you missed out on the first round of FACTS Assistance, please reach out to us. The next deadline is June 1st.

If you drop by the office, take a sneak peek of the painting in the Activity Center. It is starting to look amazing. The stage drapes have been cleaned and the new energy efficient lighting will be starting next week.

We will be collecting all devices that were lent to your families on Tuesday, May 26th from 6-7:30PM in front of the school. You will receive yearbooks and any other items your children left at the school. The procedure will include families driving through car line and dropping off any items that are school related. Chromebook and IPad check in will happen that evening and if you ordered a yearbook you will receive it that night too. Let's make it a fun time! Make some crazy signs and dress in your St. Mary Spirit Wear. Help us celebrate our Eighth grade students with a drop off sign we can post near the school for them.

We are scheduling Virtual Graduation as we speak. All Eighth grade families we will coordinate a time with you to come in to school and receive your graduation certificate. But due to Statewide rules, we can have only the immediate family present. The St. Mary Staff are working hard to make this a memorable event. After we videotape each student and family, we will merge the video together into one commemorative video. Mrs. Veil and Mrs. Boyer are busy putting together a special gift for our graduates. Look for more detailed information to follow as we finalize the graduation plans.

Scrip cards are still available. We will be putting in an order on Monday, May 11, with cards ready for pickup in the church by Friday, May 15. If ordering a teacher gift, I can deliver it to the school and put it in the teacher's mailbox. Attached is the teachers' favorites from Christmas, if that is helpful.
