IMPORTANT: Illness is Spreading!
We are asking families to PLEASE keep children home if they are sick. We have seen an increase in illness and it is spreading quickly to our staff. If your child has a fever, has a persistent cough or is sick, please keep your child home to contain the illnesses we are experiencing. Thank you so much for your support!
A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
Conferences are November 5. Teachers will reach out with a way to sign up for a time but we want you to be aware, this non-school day is a conference day! We hope to have 100% family participation.
At this conference, teachers will review STAR Early Literacy or Reading/Math assessment results. We hope that by conferences, any concerns or questions would have been shared with families. However, if you do want to touch base prior to this date, please reach out to your child's teacher. We use a wide range of assessments to determine the need for intervention, enrichment or continued instruction, as well as daily observations and interactions with each student.
PLEASE know that our Unified Arts teachers (art, music, PE/Health, STEAM, Outdoor Education, World Language and Library/Media) are all available and willing to sit with families that day if you are interested. Please email prior to the time so the teacher is prepared and available.

Note From Mrs. Warden
I will unfortunately be out of school for an extended period of time beginning October 21st to care for my husband as he recovers from a significant surgery. I wanted to inform parents of my absence and to let you know that we do have a substitute, Chris Morrill, who is an experienced Physical Education teacher and will be covering classes in my absence. I will miss the kids and the fun and laughter they bring and will look forward to returning near the end of November or early December.
Technology Agreement for Students
Please send the plan back to school with your child. If you need another copy, please email Kim Boulay at kboulay@sau50.org. If you have any questions or concerns, you can also email Kim, as well as myself at mpitts@sau50.org.
THANK YOU!
IMPORTANT!: From Mrs. Barrett
Dear Parents,
I hope you are all enjoying the fall so far! I’m Julia Barrett, the art teacher at RES, and I’m excited to share that I am setting up Artsonia accounts for your children's work! Artsonia is a fantastic digital platform where your child’s artwork and artist statements will be displayed, creating a lasting portfolio that grows with them throughout the years. What makes Artsonia even more special is that you can purchase items featuring your child’s artwork—such as notebooks with their work on it, T-shirts, coffee mugs, and more—should you want that. Most importantly it is a great way to see what the students have been working on in art as they build their portfolio.
Moving forward at RES, I plan to use Artsonia year after year, and once you’ve set up your account, it will carry through your child’s time here and even into RJH. It’s an amazing way to watch their artistic journey unfold over time and see what they have been up to in art class.
In order to create your account you can connect by pulling up the QR code in your camera or your phone to activate your account. You can also use the link attached below to create your account as well. Once you have created your account I will be able to approve and you will be able to check out your children's work.
It’s important to note that your child won’t be able to participate in this valuable educational tool without your approval.
Thank you so much for your time and support! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm regards,
Julia Barrett

Biking Information
Here are the NEW protocols for morning and afternoon bike riding:
FOR STUDENTS
1. Students must WALK their bikes across the crosswalk and down the path INSIDE the white line.
(They have been trained on this and are doing GREAT!!!!)
2. Students should ride with the traffic and follow all safety rules.
3. Students CAN arrive a few minutes before 8:05 and stand with their bikes until an adult arrives to avoid some of the incoming traffic.
FOR PARENTS
1. Parents must walk their bikes into the school with their child. Parents are encouraged to walk their bikes out of the school property to support us in modeling for the students who are entering at the same time.
2. If a parent has a question about a police officer's instructions, please contact the police department.
3. As stated in the handbook, we encourage all children in grades K-2 to be escorted by an adult.
4. Parents should drop off quickly and depart to allow for room for more students to arrive.
5. Parents should also ride in a single file within the white line.
Vision Screening
Please complete this permission form either allowing or not allowing your child to be screened. If this form is not received by 10/18, your child WILL NOT take part in the program.

A Week at a Glance
Thank you!
Thank you to the staff and the children for recognizing Boss's Day. I can't even tell you what a privilege it is to work in this environment every day and getting thanked for it seems unnecessary but I am so grateful and appreciative! To all the happy boss's out there, Happy Boss's Day!
A Parent Teaches Our Children!
Mrs. Rodriguez shared an amazing presentation about her native country of Uruguay with the fourth graders for Hispanic Heritage Month. She taught us about food, dances and more from this unique country. ¡Que interesante! ¡Gracias, Señora Rodriguez!
Spoooooky Potions
Our Kindergarteners made potions in art class. Mrs. Barrett always loves to use the most creative resources so students used toilet paper rolls to create their bubbly bubbles. The most notable part of this lesson was how beautifully the children asked for and shared the paint with one another!
Quick Notes
-If your child rides the bus, please have a conversation at home about the importance of remaining seated, keeping voices low, bodies safe and words appropriate for school. Support our bus drivers!
