A Message from Ms. Graham
Dear Litel Families,
We made it to our last few days before the Winter Break. It is almost time for us to step into 2025. Can you believe it? I would like to say thank you for all of your donations and efforts to make last week's A Night of Giving a success. The trees for the families of the Let It be Foundation turned out amazing. Together we collected $3,500 in gift cards. What a blessing! I would also like to thank you all for donating items for our District's HOPE Center and making crafts for the senior center. We could not have done anything without your help and generosity.
This is a reminder that we are gearing up for the Chino Track Meet on March 8th for grades K-6. Mr. Dan and Mrs. Gonzales are in need of parent/guardian volunteers to assist with coaching after school on Mondays and Fridays. If you are interested, please email Mr. Dan at richard_dan@chino.k12.ca.us.
As always, please read the contents of this newsletter for important information and events. Have a wonderful weekend. See you on Monday!
Sincerely,
Ms. Graham

Parent/Student Handbook Snap Shot
It is important that you read our Parent-Student Handbook located on our school website. There have been some questions asked by parents/guardians, and almost all of them can be answered by referring to this document. Each week, I will be posting a section of the handbook and checking for parents/guardians who are actively participating in answering my weekly question.
True or false, you can leave your car unattended in the lot.

Attendance
student achievement. Please click here to view the CVUSD Board Policy.
The California State Education Code requires school attendance for minors. Students should regularly attend all classes on time. If a student is absent, PLEASE NOTIFY THE SCHOOL on the first day of absence, during the regular school day from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If parents are unable to call on each day of an absence, the student, upon the first day of his/her return, MUST bring a written note from a parent or guardian. You have three days to clear your child’s absence. Please contact the school office in advance of any long-term (5 or more days) unavoidable absence to arrange a schedule of the work to be completed by the student. This must be done at least one week in advance.
TARDY POLICY
All students must be in line with all necessary materials for the day when the tardy bell rings (7:50 A.M.) or they will be considered tardy. A student will be marked “tardy” if they are walking through the Lion Sanctuary Gate when the ‘tardy bell’ sounds. Otherwise, consequences of “tardies” will be as follows:
The first tardy will result in a warning. A student that is tardy again with a medical excuse will be given the opportunity to make-up the instructional time which was lost. Subsequent “tardies” will result in further disciplinary action left up to administrative discretion which may include a referral to the School Attendance Review Team (SART) if the number of “tardies” is deemed excessive.
Request for Support
MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)
At Litel, our students benefit from Tier I and Tier II academic and behavioral support. Mrs. Gonazales, Litel's Intervention Teacher, works with a small group of Tier II and Tier III students to assist them in learning their reading skills. Dr. C, Litel's Counselor, works with small groups of students to provide Tier II Tier III counseling with a curriculum focused on supporting our students' social-emotional health. You can request support if you have concerns regarding your child's social-emotional health. Click on the picture above to access the online Parent Request for Assistance form.
