Central Tiger Tales
A Leader in Me School - January 2021
A Message From Your Principal - Central Tiger Cubs to Become Reading Millionaires!
Hello Central Families,
One of our “Wildly Important Goals” for our students at Central Elementary this year is for ALL students to grow in their reading skills and reach their grade level potential. In order to help us achieve our school-wide WIG at Central, we have been synergizing our efforts to read a MILLION MINUTES! We ALL want to become Reading Millionaires!!
You may recall that we launched this project last January 2020 and our efforts were cut short by the COVID quarantine. To become a better reader takes lots of practice. Now our Tiger Cubs are fully engaged in their efforts to become Reading Millionaires, and they need your help in tracking their reading minutes at home too! Teachers and students are tracking their reading here at school, but we know our Central Tiger Cubs read at home as well. This is where you, our Central parents, can help.
Below you will find a link to a Google Document. We ask that you work with your student to track the minutes you read at home and record it on this document. All you have to do is fill out the form with your student’s teacher name, grade level, and the number of minutes read. Our Tiger Cubs have read a total of 715,000 minutes so far!
Thank you in advance for your assistance in helping us reach our goal of becoming Reading Millionaires!
Yours in education,
Rebecca Outcalt
Principal

Central Pride Champion - Daisy Heath
Nominated by Kim Lahrman, Diana Shirley and Keanna Stamm
Daisy is a natural leader who displays all of the characteristics of Tiger PRIDE. She was nominated by her classmates in October for being the most proactive person in the classroom. One of her classmates said, “I think the most proactive person in our class is Daisy because when things get hard for her, she doesn’t give up.” She always sees the good in situations, uses positive language and constantly brightens the day of those around her with her smile and kindness. Daisy is extremely well organized and works hard to achieve her goals. She is passionate about helping others, so when she finishes her classwork, she is always willing to lend a helping hand. Congratulations Daisy!
