The CYHS iTeam will host CYHacks ‘25, a hackathon, on Saturday 5/3/25 from 8 am - 8 pm at the CYHS Library and Learning Hub. Participants in grades 6 through college may spend the day working on their competition entry and/or attend one or more seminars or work on their own to learn and improve their computer science skills. Younger students may attend for all or part of the day, but we would like a parent / guardian to stay with them. Competitors work in small groups or individually to program a project based on the theme announced at the event. Products may include games, websites and apps. Students from all over the region are invited. Our theme this year is: Space.
The day includes seminars related to computer science and 3D printing. Brain breaks include unplugged programming and makerspace activities. There is no fee for the event, and food and prizes are provided. Sponsors for prizes, food, supplies, or monetary donations to purchase items for the event are appreciated. Contact iteam@cypanthers.org with questions.

Attention Class of 2025!!
All seniors MUST complete the short survey at tinyurl.com/CentralYorkSeniorSurvey by Friday, May 2. This is REQUIRED by the state.
Remember that participating in graduation requires that seniors fulfill ALL of their graduation requirements (tinyurl.com/cyhsgradrequirements). Seniors who fail to meet the requirements will NOT walk in the graduation ceremony.
Many scholarships have deadlines this month. Check out our list at tinyurl.com/cyscholarshiplist - which is updated frequently - and see more info at tinyurl.com/scholarshipprocedure.
If you’re going to college, go ahead to Parchment.com to order your final transcript, but remember to change ‘Send Now’ to ‘Hold for Grades’ so that we send it after grades are finalized.

Leadership Opportunity for Current 10th Grade Students
Are you active in school and community activities? Are you interested in developing your leadership skills and working with students from other school districts in York County? If so, you should check out Future Leaders of York! This leadership program uses a variety of activities to familiarize students with current issues, community resources, and other factors influencing York County’s future. Applications are available in the School Counseling Office and are due back by 5/14.
Dual Enrollment Registration has begun for Summer/Fall 2025

Summer Opportunities for Students
There are many great ways to spend your summer, including camps and volunteer work. Many options exist at tinyurl.com/summer-opps, including those at low cost/no cost and nearby camps.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
As the school year comes to a close, students are reminded to STAY FOCUSED in their classes. Students in danger of failing a class should be paying extra attention to the work they are submitting and should be spending time DAILY reviewing the material for each class.
Please remember that final exams are worth 20% of the grade for a class. Having marking period grades that are 70% or lower puts a student in considerable danger of failing a course, given the academic rigor of final course exams.
In these final weeks, students are encouraged to seek help from teachers and peer tutors to ensure that they earn passing grades in all classes. Summer school information is available in the School Counseling Office for any students who may need this resource to remain in their proper grade placement.
To be promoted to grade 10, a student must earn 7 credits.
To be promoted to grade 11, a student must earn 14 credits.
To be promoted to grade 12, a student must earn 20 credits.
For further information, please contact your school counselor.

School Lunches Update
High School lunches are $3.00 each day. A la carte items from other food lines are available at an additional cost.
Students with a negative food account balance of $5.00 or more cannot add the additional a la carte items from the alternative food lines to their meals. The daily lunch menu meal will still be available for these students.
If your student has a negative account balance, which can be viewed in Skyward, you may deposit funds to their account using the online Revtrak system (Deposit Meal Account Funds Online) or by sending a check with your student to school. Please make checks payable to “Central York School District.” Checks may be given to the cashiers in the cafeteria for deposit into the student’s food services account. If you cannot log in to Skyward, please email familyaccess@cysd.k12.pa.us to update your contact information or reset your account password.
Please complete the Free and Reduced Meal Program application if you need assistance, Free and Reduced Meal Program. If you need additional information or assistance, don't hesitate to contact your student's school counselor or assistant principal.
