Principal's Corner
Hello Cook Families!
We are excited to be starting the year together and welcoming all of our families - both new and returning! WELCOME TO ALL!!
I know you are eager to know which teacher will be partnering with you and your child this year. Please be sure to open the attachments that will give you this information. You will find a Welcome Letter and supply list for your child's teacher. I ask you to keep in mind that a great deal of time, planning and thought went into the placement of your child and while hopefully it will not happen this placement is subject to change as new students enroll in our school.
Our Meet the Teacher Night will be held on Wednesday, August 21st from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm. We are asking that each family please sign up for a time to meet your teacher. After reading the Welcome Letter from your child's teacher please click HERE to access each teacher's sign up. This will allow for a more personable experience for our families. If you are bringing supplies from your teacher's Wish List this is a great time to bring them. We appreciate your generosity yet please know that we don't want to cause a hardship. If buying supplies isn't in your budget, PLEASE DON'T WORRY! We will make sure your child has everything that is needed for the classroom.
We have a few new faces on our Cook Team this year. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Carmen Cosgrove, Mrs. Cassondra Dell, Mrs. April Laird and Mrs. Natalie Marzonie-Parra.
Mrs. Dell will be teaching our Special Education Resource Room. She hails to us from Brendel Elementary School and is thrilled to join the Cook Team.
Mrs. Carmen Cosgrove as our newest Speech & Language Pathologist. Mrs. Cosgrove has been the Speech Pathologist at Anderson Elementary School and is eager to meet all of the students she will be working with!
Mrs. April Laird will be teaching our self-contained Austism classroom this year. Mrs. Laird started her teaching career as a student teacher at Cook Elementary School in 2005. She holds a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and we're very excited to welcome her back to Cook Elementary School!
Mrs. Natalie Marzonie-Parra is our newest Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Parra previously worked as a special education paraprofessional at Cook Elementary and went on to pursue her teaching certificate. We were lucky enough to have her as a student teacher last year at Cook and we're really happy to welcome her to our Kindergarten team!
Are you looking for a part-time job? We are always looking to hire noon-hour supervisors. This is a M-F position from 11:15am-1:45pm. We make every effort to place you with your child's classroom so you can see him/her daily. If you are interested please give us a call in the office.
We are also still looking to hire a special education paraprofessional. This position is M-F from 8:30am-4:00pm. If you are interested, in applying for this position you can click here.
Here are a few reminders for our first week of school!
Monday, August 26th - FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - HALF DAY - 8:40am-12:17pm
Friday, August 30th - NO SCHOOL
Monday, September 2nd - NO SCHOOL
If your child will be riding the bus, we strongly recommend that you have them ride from the first day of school. This helps them learn their new routine right from the first day of school. Everyone is new on the first day and likely your bus driver will be going over rules and expectations. If your child misses those they may feel left out or awkward on the second day of school. Please watch your email on Thursday, August 22nd for information about daily drop off/pick up procedures and expectations. If you will be regularly picking your child up from Cook Elementary School at the end of the school day please click PICK UP TAG FORM to complete our form. We will use this to create your pick up tag and hopefully have it ready for Meet the Teacher Night.
I am very honored to serve as your Cook Elementary School Principal. This is the start of my 29th year in education and I LOVE working with your children every day! When I'm not in school my husband and I like hiking, hunting and spending time with our two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Ellie and Sassy. I also enjoy running, being crafty and cooking! I look forward to our partnership this year and to helping your child have a successful school year! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out at 810-591-7922 (office), 810-577-3404 (cell phone) or via email at tdale@gbcs.org. Thank you for the trust you place in us each day!
Sincerely,
Tia M. Dale, Ed.S, LPC
