Welcome back! We hope everyone had a relaxing break! Monday, December 2nd will be an A day.

We will start our 12 Days 'til Winter Break Spirit days this Thursday. Remind students to join in on the fun! All outfits must be school appropriate and follow the school rules.

Maryland State Department of Education’s Comprehensive Health Education Framework

6th and 7th-grade students will participate in a unit of study entitled Family Life and Human Sexuality during their assigned marking period of health. The letter about this was passed out during open houses and is posted in Schoology. This letter contains information and allows for the option to opt-out. Students with 2nd marking period health will begin this unit on Monday, December 2, 2024. If you have questions regarding the unit or the materials, please contact Ms. Hayden at achayden@smcps.org or Mr. Plotner at wpplotner@smcps.org. Approved materials that may be used by staff may also be viewed on the SMCPS School Health Council Google Site.

Support the EMS Theater Program

The EMS Theater Prgoram will have a fundraising event at Panda Express in California, MD, on Wednesday, December 4th, all day, from 9:30 am - 10:00 pm. When you mention the fundraiser, the program will get 20% of all sales. For online sales, use this code: 382322. Thank you in advance for your support of our production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

After School Activities

All after-school activities end at 3:30 pm. Two or more late pickups will result in removal from after-school activities.

Monday - NJHS, Jazz Band, and Math Counts

Tuesday - Symphonic Band

Wednesday - Honors Chorus, Jazz Band, Robotics, and Yearbook

Thursday - Symphonic Band, Civil Air Patrol, and BATB Jr. - Read Through, All cast & crew called.

Upcoming Events

Friday, December 20th will be a two-hour early dismissal for students.

Esperanza will be closed for all students and staff for Winter Break from December 23rd through January 3rd. We will reopen for all students and staff on Monday, January 6th.

Families can pay for lost or damaged resources in My School Bucks. Resources include library books, laptops, chargers, textbooks, consumables, etc. My School Bucks is also used to put lunch money on your child's account.
