The BHMS staff is ever grateful for the support from the families during Teacher Appreciation Week. Sadly, I did not get a pic of the room full of staff but it was so cheerful as they walked in.

The term APIAH includes 75 countries and islands from the Asian continent – East, Southeast, and South Asia – as well as the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. May was designated APIAH Month to commemorate the first Japanese immigrants to arrive in the U.S. in 1843. May was also chosen as way to remember the Chinese immigrants who worked tirelessly to create the first transcontinental railroad in America in May of 1843 and ending in May of 1869.

The Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center of Pauwai (Poway) is a five acre site rich in the local history of the Kumeyaay-Ipai Indian tribes. Follow the trails past ramadas, interpretive signage, native gardens and a replica of an 'ewaa (native Kumeyaay house). Morteros (grinding stones) left by the original Kumeyaay inhabitants still remain on this historic site. Also visit the Education Center to view artifacts and other interesting historical items and photos.
