Good Things
7th grade Science
7th grade science classes have been studying animal adaptations. Our favorite adaptations are camouflage and mimicry. We used our knowledge of behavioral and structural adaptations to explain how these improve the likelihood of an organism's survival and reproduction.
K - 3 Home Library
We’re excited to announce that our school has been invited to participate in the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation’s K-3 Home Library program this summer! This program offers all rising 1st-3rd grade students the opportunity to receive six high-quality books and activity pages, delivered directly to their homes at no cost to families.
If you prefer not to participate, please complete the opt-out process below. Opting out means your child will not receive the books and activity pages this summer.
6th - 8th Grade Dance
The PBIS Valentine's Dance has been rescheduled to Friday, February 7, from 6-8 pm in the new cafetorium for middle school students in grades 6-8. Just a quick reminder, students must be dropped off and picked up at the front entrance of the cafetorium (not the school), and tickets are $5 each.
Also, please note that students with suspensions and detentions won’t be able to attend the event.
Looks like a fun evening for the students! If you need any more details or assistance with preparation, feel free to ask!

Winter Health Reminder
Thank You for Your Understanding
Dear School Families,
Thank you so much for your understanding and support as we made the decision to close school on Thursday and Friday due to illness among both students and staff, as well as ongoing staffing shortages. We truly appreciate your patience as we navigate this challenging time together.
As we continue through the winter flu and cold season, we’d like to remind all families to keep your child home if they have a fever. Students should remain at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours, without the aid of medication, to help prevent the spread of illness. Additionally, here are a few tips that can help keep everyone healthy during this time:
- Encourage frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before meals and after coughing or sneezing.
- Use hand sanitizer when soap and water aren’t available.
- Teach your child to cover their coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of their elbow.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces around the home, like doorknobs, light switches, and remote controls.
- Make sure your child is getting enough rest, staying hydrated, and eating balanced meals to support their immune system.
Your partnership is vital in keeping our school community healthy, and we appreciate all your efforts to help your child recover and return to school safely.
Thank you once again for your understanding and cooperation.
Warmly,
Director Newsom
