Dear Petty Families,
As we wrap up our winter testing sessions, I'd like to share our School Improvement Plan and highlight our areas of focus. Guided by our mission, "Unleashing the Spirit of the Bobcat: Inspiring Hearts, Empowering Growth, and Celebrating Achievement!" and our vision to empower students for lifelong learning and responsible global citizenship, our commitment is strong.
This academic year, our primary focus is on student achievement. We aim to elevate both reading and math proficiency levels, ensuring that more students meet or exceed their growth targets on the NWEA assessments. By concentrating our efforts in these areas, we strive to lay a solid foundation for literacy and numeracy that will benefit our students throughout their lives.
Additionally, we are dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive school environment. Our goal is to reduce physical aggression major referrals by 10%, promoting a positive and respectful culture. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to equip our students with essential social and emotional skills, empowering them for success in all aspects of life.
You can click on the button below to see our School Improvement Plan which includes our specific goals and how they will be measured.
Respectfully,
Joanna Gerritsen
W.C. Petty Elementary Principal
Important: WC Petty would love to hear from you!!!
If we get at least a 50% response rate from parents, every student at WC Petty will receive extra PBIS points in their PBIS Rewards account.
You have been invited to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. The information you provide will help guide improvement as we strive to inspire each student to realize their potential through the education and opportunities we provide at WC Petty. Your participation in this survey is voluntary but crucial. We canβt receive results from the survey unless at least 20 percent of parents respond. The more responses parents provide, the more we will know how to focus our efforts toward the improvements you want. Therefore, we have set a goal to reach an 80 percent response rate. Please help us reach our goal by completing the survey.
- Go to: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/login/ or use the QR code to take the survey.
- Si desea completar la encuesta en espaΓ±ol, haga clic aquΓ.
- You may enter your email address if you would like to receive confirmation of your submission, but it is not required.
- Then enter βLakeβ into the county field and βW C Pettyβ or "Petty" to find our school.

From the Lake County Regional Office of Education....
ReferralGPS
We are committed to creating a culture of well-being of students , staff, parents and community. In an effort to continuously support this commitment, the Lake County Regional Office of Education has entered an agreement with ReferralGPS.
ReferralGPS is a web-based service focused on assisting our students, staff and community in finding local mental-health and substance use related treatment. The service compliments the districts existing systems of support as a tool for student service teams and families to connect with treatment. Along with a searchable database of treatment options, ReferralGPS provides Care Navigation to assist families on triage, appointment setting, and follow up care.
School families may access ReferralGPS in two ways:
1) Contact Student Services for the Lake County school the child attends (social workers , psychologists, counselors) to seek treatment options.
2) Visit the link at https://referralgps.com/find-help/lake to search for treatment resources or connect with a Care Navigator anonymously.
ReferralGPS takes into account all types of private and public insurance including PPO, HMO, Medicaid, and families who are uninsured or underinsured. The platform also filters by age, gender, zip code, and special requests.
ReferralGPS is available for use by district students, staff, and families at no cost. All information entered on the ReferralGPS tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
If you are interested in seeking counseling-related services at this time, please consider visiting https://referralgps.com/find-help/lake or reaching out to the Student Services team.

Information from the Technology Office π»
iPad Concerns
The technology department has seen an increase in headphone plugs breaking off in the iPads. Please help us remind students of the proper way to put headphones in the port and to never transport the iPad with the headphones attached. If the piece breaks off inside, please have your son/daughter report it to the teacher ASAP. The sound will not work with this piece broken off in the port. Please encourage your student to be very careful with the headphone jack.
Also please contact a teacher or the school if your student has misplaced their iPad. The sooner the school knows, the easier they are to find.
Common Sense Media
The link below is a great link for parents to help teach their students about proper technology use and how to keep them safe using the internet. Antioch CCSD 34 uses some of the resources from this website as well to help with digital citizenship.
Additionally, Common Sense Media has information that can help with internet services or home devices. Please click here to find out if you qualify for free internet.
