May 9, 2025
Hello Andrews Families
What a truly special week it's been as we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to everyone who donated items, time, or funds to help make it so memorable. Our staff felt incredibly loved and appreciated—especially with the fun dress-up days, Thursday’s in-person snack deliveries, and this morning’s fresh-baked pancakes. We say it often, but it’s always worth repeating: we are so fortunate to be part of such a supportive and caring Andrews community.
We also had the honor of celebrating our Teacher of the Year nominee, Ms. Tara Parmley, at the district ceremony last night. We already knew how extraordinary she is, and the district affirmed it by awarding her the Marilyn Brooks Excellence in Teaching Award, recognizing her as one of the top 10 finalists for District Teacher of the Year. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the impact she makes every day at Andrews.
Looking ahead, we're excited for Field Day 2025, happening next week! Thanks to our amazing Andrews PTA, students will enjoy a fun new station—Bubble Fizz. To participate in this activity, a waiver must be completed by Thursday, May 15, at 5:00 PM. We’ll send reminders leading up to the deadline, but completing the waiver early is greatly appreciated. When filling out the form, please enter "Andrews / [Teacher’s Name]" in the Name or Organization field to help us verify submissions more efficiently.
If you ordered a Field Day shirt, it will be delivered to your child’s classroom next week. For those who didn’t order one, students are encouraged to wear their grade-level color to show their Field Day spirit!
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, there’s still so much to look forward to. Be sure to stay up to date by checking our Andrews Family Newsletter and your Grade Level Newsletters regularly.
Wishing you all a restful and joyful weekend!

Birthday Board Celebrations!
Beginning THIS SEMESTER, parents can celebrate their child's birthday via our Birthday Board located in the school's main hallway. If you choose to celebrate your child this way, you will complete the form below. The form will also be included in each Andrews Family Newsletter this semester if you choose to complete it at a later date. In addition to the completed form, your payment of $10 will need to be made via Rycor prior to your child's celebration day.
If your child had a birthday during the first semester, has a summer birthday, or their birthday is on the weekend, you can still celebrate the second semester by completing a form and selecting the date of your choice. Additional questions? Please reach out to Leigh Anne Hickman at leigh.hickman@pisd.edu.
An example of what the Birthday Board looks like is included below.
PTA Yearbook 2024-2025
We're once again partnering with TreeRing for this year's Yearbook!
When you create your free accounts to purchase a yearbook, you can also add photos to designated folders (i.e. First Day of School, Party at the Park, etc) so our yearbook staff may consider them for placement.
Don't think you see enough of your student in the Yearbook? No problem! Every student gets two free, uniquely printed pages, so you can fill your yearbook with personal memories. TreeRing's software has powerful automated tools and template-based, drag-and-drop pages to help build and design your custom pages.
Parents purchase a copy of their yearbook directly from TreeRing. TreeRing only prints what’s ordered, which means there won’t be any wasted books or cost to our school. (What's more, TreeRing plants a tree for every yearbook purchased, and all books are printed on recycled paper!)
There will be no left-over copies, so order your copy now at https://www.treering.com/purchase?PassCode=1015995828243345
