Stay Committed to Excellence
Now that we are one month into the school year, it is important to review information that will impact and enhance student performance, ranging from safety to tutoring support options, as well as plan for the future, such as family conferences and scholarship opportunities.
Importance of Safety
Here are highlights from recent discipline/safety class meetings with Mr. Carroll. Please discuss these points as a family!
- Students in grades 9/10 must stay on campus during lunches
- Meal delivery services are not permitted as we are not familiar with who delivery people may be
- If a student in grades 11/12 is late three times back to campus following lunch, off campus privileges could be revoked
- All visitors and students must check in at the front kiosk; we may not open or permit others to enter through other doors of our school
- Any student filming an altercation may earn a suspension--we do not encourage or share violent or negative situations
- If misbehavior occurs off campus that affects our school, a student may earn a consequence
Fall Family Conferences
--Join SCHS teachers for meaningful conversations about student performance--
18-19 Sept, 4:00-7:30 pm
Teachers will be available by both appointment and walk in meetings
Stay tuned for specialized communication the week of 9 Sept to learn more information about scheduling and tips for meaningful performance conversations
🌟Sand Creek Shining Stars🌟
Brooke Jenkinson was recognized by another staff member, who had this to say about her:
- Ms. Jenkinson creates a safe learning environment where students lead the charge in their learning journey and have multiple entry points for students at various levels of proficiency. Students are immersed in a language-rich classroom and are able to clearly articulate their learning using appropriate academic language. Ms. Jenkinson facilitates strategies and techniques for artists in her classroom while leaving space for choice and individual autonomy. The learning progression students experience in her classroom are structured in a manner that all students can succeed despite their starting point. Ms. Jenkinson is a model example of how Sand Creek Scorpions encourage one another to be the best versions of ourselves!
A peer asked to recognize the entire SCHS English department!
- They work above and beyond their duties. If there is a problem everyone joins in to find a solution. They are very connected not only by work but also by personal interactions. They are a joy to work with and I will miss them when I retire next year.
