Superintendent's Update
February 28, 2025
Dear CCPS Families,
As we approach the end of our winter athletics season, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes. Today and over the weekend, we have exciting events with basketball playoffs and wrestling regionals. Let's cheer on our teams as they compete and showcase their talents.
Looking ahead, spring sports will begin tomorrow, Saturday, March 1. We are excited to see our students engage in a new season of activities and continue to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
Additionally, I am thrilled to announce the upcoming play at Rising Sun High School, "Freaky Friday," which will be performed tonight and tomorrow at 7:00 PM. This production promises to be a fantastic showcase of our students' artistic abilities, and I encourage everyone to attend and support our talented performers.
I also want to highlight that this past weekend, Cecil County Public Schools hosted its first-ever VEX V5 Robotics Countywide Event at Perryville Middle School, bringing together over 100 students from 18 teams across Maryland. Teams showcased their engineering, coding, and teamwork skills in matches, with Cecil County’s own Team Falcon Storm taking home the prestigious Inspire Award!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.
