6th grade math students used their extra long Block Classes this week to play Clue. They were presented with a mystery...someone in our building stole the secret stash of extra pencils from the school pencil safe. WHO stole the pencils? (Spoiler, it was a pair of teachers...gasp!) WHAT object did they use to break into the safe? WHERE are the pencils now hidden? Students found partners and traveled through 15 stations worth of clues and multiplying fractions review questions to crack the case. If you want to know the results...you will have to ask a 6th grader!

Garden Crew continues to meet Mondays after school. We will NOT be meeting Monday, October 14th due to students not having school. See you October 21st crew members!

Did you know in the 1840s, instead of saying “Cheese!” people used to say “Prunes!” when having their pictures taken. This was to intentionally keep mouths taut in photographs since big smiles were seen as childish. If this kind of thing is interesting to you, History Day Club is for you! In the History Day club you will have the chance to research a topic in history, research it, and present it for competition. You can compete by yourself or with a group in one of five categories; Research Paper, Exhibit, Documentary, Performance, or Website. All grades are welcome. The next meeting of the History Day Club is Thursday, October 24th in Mrs. Vang's room, 3133.

There will be a parent meeting for registered basketball players on Monday, October 21st.

We added one last game to the volleyball schedule. It will be Tuesday, October 15 at Lincoln Park. All four teams will be playing, starting at 4:30. Volleyball players, please bring BOTH your uniforms to your game on Tuesday, October 15th. Bring a sweatshirt for after the game, as Mrs. Pioro will be at the game collecting your uniform right after your game. Thank you!

There are still 19 runners who have not returned last year's track uniform. They were brand new last Spring, and Mrs. Pioro would really appreciate those uniforms to be returned so that future runners are able to use them. Please search your homes and bring those uniforms back to school, or if you have a sibling that ran last year, please remind them. Those uniforms may be dropped in Mrs. Pioro's mailbox or in her classroom, 2305.
