FIX IT Day
Calling all VA students and staff
Is your Chromebook not working properly? Cracked screen, camera not working, not connecting to the internet, other issues? Come to our FIX IT Day. IT staff will be on site to take a look at Chromebooks and help problem solve issues. March 13, 12-3pm at Vista View Elementary.

Scholastic Book Fair

- Wednesday, March 6th from 4p-8p
- Thursday, March 7th from 12p-8p
- Friday, March 8th from 8a-11:30a
The fair will be held in the upstairs hallway at Vista View. We can't wait to see you there!

This link will become active once the fair starts. You will have the option to ship the books to the school or to your home. Books ship home for free with an order of $25.

Friday, only at Nicollet is a drop in day, no appointment needed.

Burnsville Trapshooting is open to all students in grades 6-12. All levels of experience are welcome! Spring Season is April 1st - May 20th. Shooters participate weekly on either Sundays or Mondays. Registration is open February 1st - March 18th. A registration link will be on the bootstrap website starting February 1st. The Early Bird Registration fee $355. The fee increases as we get closer to the season. For more information email bhstrapshooting@gmail.com.

Attention Seniors
Cap and Gown Order
A cap and gown order form was sent to all Senior parents and students on 1/24/24 through SMORE. It needs to be filled out and submitted by March 15.
Seniors, check out the events below happening at BHS. If you plan to attend college next year, I encourage you to attend the Financial Aid Night and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion events. If you are unfamiliar with financial aid or the FAFSA, these events are essential.

1. " Hey BHS, there is an opportunity to volunteer for the Blood Drive Committee! We’re looking for 4-6 upperclassmen for the Blood Drive Committee to help us during the planning and recruiting process. This will involve 1-2 meetings concerning the Blood drive, running the lunch room recruitment table, and will miss school all day on March 29th to assist with the Blood Drive. You will receive volunteer hours for all of your Blood Drive related work and receive a free t-shirt! 2. City of Burnsville Natural Resources If you are someone looking for a summer opportunity to work outside and gain experience in the natural resources field, consider volunteering with the City of Burnsville. 3. Community Iftar Event In partnership with MSA, Community Education will be hosting a Community Iftar event at BHS on Friday March 22 from 6-9. Please use the link to sign up for volunteer opportunities, if you have questions, please contact Mrs. Hamde Daoud at hdaoud@isd191.org
4. PALS afterschool K-5 help Do you have a knack for little ones, would you like to help tutor and mentor youth K -5 within our district? PALS is the program for you. Starting January 3rd, PALS will meet every Tuesday and Wednesday (you can decide on 1 or both days each week) unless school is released due to weather from 4:00p to 6:00p. PALS is currently held at: Hidden Valley, Harriet Bishop, Edward Neill, Sky Oaks, and Rahn Elementary Schools. PALS will give you valuable insight into the minds of our younger generation. 5. The Free Book Buggie. Each Saturday will be the Free Book Buggie book sort event from 10a-12p or Tuesday after school in C100. This event asks volunteers to count book donations, sort donated books by reading level and category, and load books into buggy for upcoming events. *Free T-Shirt available in Ms. Jackson Floback’s office

7. Hot Chocolate RUN for student Groups The Hot Chocolate RUN, coined as America's Sweetest Race, is coming to Minneapolis the weekend of April 13 and we are looking for volunteer groups to make the event a success! We are hoping you and your group might be willing to help!
Our volunteer program offers donations and we are happy to contribute towards any fundraising goals your organization might have. Groups who bring at least 10 volunteers will receive a $100 donation, 15 volunteers receive a $150 donation, 20 volunteers receive a $200 donation, and so on! The more volunteers the group can provide the bigger the donation! All race day volunteers (2/4 only) will receive a super-sweet goodie bag to commemorate your race experience!

8. Peer Tutoring on Tuesdays and or Wednesdays: The tutor center is seeking help on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:45-3:25, you will receive 2 hours of time for 40 minutes of work. You do not have to commit to attending each week, you must use the following link each week to sign up to be a peer tutor.
9. Gideon Pond Classroom Helper Gideon Pond is seeking volunteers from 2:45-3:55 (start time is flexible) Volunteers would help with activities and help students get ready to go home where they will work with teacher Casey Hildrth.
