SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Connor Stevens Scholarship Application
The Connor Stevens Scholarship was established in 2025 in memory of Franklin Central alumnus Connor Stevens. Connor grew up in Franklin Township and was a 2022 graduate of Franklin Central. He always loved music as a child, but his passion for it really started in the 5th grade when he tested out different instruments in music class. He started playing the oboe in the band the following school year and played all through high school. He was in the Wind Symphony his freshman year, and the remainder of his time was spent in the Wind Ensemble. He was always proud to be an oboe player! Connor's love of music was infectious, and he wanted to share it with anyone and everyone who would listen, whether it was listening to a song on the radio, calling out the instruments he'd hear in a movie, or pulling up YouTube videos to learn about music theory. All of that was exciting to him, but you were always in for a treat when he'd pick up one of his many instruments to play songs himself. It brought him great joy! This scholarship was established in his memory to help other Franklin Central High School band program students support their music passion.
To apply, students must be a freshman, sophomore, or junior who plays an instrument in at least one Franklin Central band activity and is in good standing with the Franklin Central band program. This $500.00 award is meant to help cover the cost of participation in Franklin Central Band activities, such as marching band, jazz band, indoor percussion, pep band, concert band, choir backup band, etc.
To apply, students must submit a scholarship application packet that contains the following information:
- List of all Franklin Central band activities (past and current)
- Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, coach, extracurricular activity leader, clergy member, work supervisor, or other appropriate adult (not including family members)
- A one-page essay on one of the following topics:
- Tell us how you embrace other band members in a positive and welcoming way.
- Tell us about an example of how you have acted as a mentor or buddy to another band member.
- Tell us how being involved with the FC band program had a positive impact on you.
Student first and last name, grade, and the title Connor Stevens Scholarship Application should be listed on all items submitted.
Application must be emailed to scholarships@fcbands.org by midnight on May 4, 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
