Sharing The Homeschool Heart...Keep things simple.
As I begin to prepare for next year, I have a lot of thoughts on what my daily plan should look like. Even after 12 years, I still get caught up in thought patterns that can be difficult to work around, or even destructive to the preparation of my school year. I always try to remind myself to keep it simple. As simple as I can schooling six, right!?
Taking summertime to write out a simple plan for each one of your kids or, like me, each group of your kids depending on their stage and level they're working at can be a great way to start a simple plan that clears your brain of unneeded stress and worry. Another helpful resource can be our I Can Statements. I Can Statements can be a great way to take a look at where your student could / should be for a particular grade and age. They can provide a framework for education for the year, or they can be used as a small checklist to be mindful of. Using the I Can Statements can also be helpful when formulating your year-long curriculum and lesson plans.
Take it from me, unneeded stress or worry gets you nowhere for the school year. Learn to let that go now, be confident in the decisions you make, and be very excited for the new school year you are about to embark on. This journey is amazing! You have heard me say it a thousand times. There is nothing like home education and the time you get to enjoy with your children because of the decision you've made. Don't waste your time in fear and worry. You can do this! You are the best educator for your kids! Use the summertime to clear your brain, build confidence, make plans, grow your tribe of support, and then, relax! Have fun during these lazy, hot summer days. Enjoy each moment that this break brings in preparation for a busy, exciting, and fulfilling new school year that is just around the corner. You have got this, and we're here to help every step of the way!
~ Candice

This Week's OSP (Online Subscription Package): IXL
The 2019-2020 Online Subscription Package (OSP) options are finalized, and we’re spotlighting every option - every week!
This week we look at IXL.
"IXL is an immersive K-12 learning experience that provides comprehensive, standards-aligned content for math, language arts, science, and social studies."
By opting into IXL, you will receive:
- Student account for each student you opt in
- Instructor account that your student(s) will be linked to
- Access to comprehensive TK-12 curriculum for the following subjects:
- Math
- English/Language Arts
- Science
- Social Studies
Q: I opted into IXL during last year's OSP, if I opt in again, will my information from last year be saved?
A: Yes, if you had an IXL account as a part of last year's OSP, you will continue this year with the same account.
Q: Does IXL include access to IXL Spanish?
A: The IXL subscription offered through the OSP does not include IXL Spanish.
Q: Can IXL be used as a math curriculum?
A: In order to take any math course for general credit, a student must show proficiency in that specific course's CA and Common Core state standards. IXL is a wonderful supplementary option to help boost student's skills but needs to be offered with a standardized curriculum or used alongside curriculum maps for college and career-high school credit.
In order to be approved for "A-G," specific requirements must be met. Inspire offers "A-G" approved options for our most popular math courses, so students can take advantage of the ICS "A-G" standards-based course, a standardized text, and utilize IXL as a supplemental took to help build proficiency within the specific content area.
Watch more about IXL HERE!
For more details on this OSP option and all the other OSP subscriptions, head over to the OSP Handbook.

Hi everyone! I am a mom of 3 awesome kids ranging in age from 11 to 6 years old. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 16 years. Having homeschooled our children over the last 7 years in 3 different states, I've found homeschooling here in California, especially with Inspire Charter, has been a great fit for our homeschool journey. I am grateful for our ability to homeschool so freely and I aspire to assist other families with their own homeschool adventures!
