Welcome to the monthly Continuous Improvement and State & Federal Programs communication. The purpose is to contextualize Continuous Improvement into our daily work, to efficiently complete all State and Federal Program tasks, and to promote moving these tasks past simple compliance.

Biweekly MICIP Open Forum (PD)

We had a great start to our MICIP Biweekly Open Forums - 3 down and 3 to go! The purpose of the forum is to get in and explore the MICIP system. I work through a specific area of MICIP at each session. Participants are welcome to watch and engage in conversation, or get into the training site and try it for themselves. Full video archives and other information is available here.

No registration necessary, just join the Zoom at the appointed time (same Zoom link for the whole series). Remaining Dates and Times:

MICIP Training Site and New Resource

We have been using a great new resource at our MICIP Open Forums - the Roadmap to MICIP for District Teams, created by thee Northern Michigan Learning Consortium.

The MICIP Team has created a training site and training manual for schools, districts, and ISDs to use. The purpose of the training site is to get in and try out the various features and tools in MICIP so that we're prepared to use the system when it goes live in January. This is the login that we are using at our open forums.

December Update: Extended COVID-19 Learning Plans

Reconfirmation data submitted to CEPI is now being reported on MISCHOOLDATA and is being researched for policy purposes by EPIC (MSU). Please be aware that the data districts are submitting is disaggregated by school district on MISCHOOLDATA and will be used for policy decisions in the future. Here is a 5-Minute video with more information.

What timeline are we actually using when completing the GEMS Reconfirmation Submission? Info from CEPI:

The December survey is for how your district plans to provide instruction to students for the month of December, which should have been decided in a November board meeting. If the board is meeting again on December 21st, they will be reconfirming how instruction will be provided for the month of January which means you will submit the plan from that meeting in the January submission. Essentially, the data you report to CEPI is for the preceding month’s board meeting.

AER 2020-21

It's that magical time of year again! There's a chill in the air, festive lights, and the Annual Education Report is back. The preview window for the Combined Report is now open, but it does not appear that the cover letters are ready yet.

Dates:

December 2 to 16 - Preview data available for Combined Report
December 17 - AER (Combined Report and Cover Letters) may be posted to district transparency sites starting this day
February 15 - AER posting deadline

Title I Plans in the era of MICIP

There was some talk over the years about MICIP meeting all the federal requirements for Title I Plans, but this was not able to be accomplished at this time. MDE OES has released information on documents that must be maintained by all Title I schools. These look similar to the diagnostics that used to be in Assist, but are significantly shorter and have fewer narratives to complete.

Upcoming 20/21 Regional State and Federal Program Meetings

Mark your calendar for the following dates. At this time, please plan on the meetings being offered virtually. Although these are being organized by MAISD and OAISD, anyone can attend any session.
