Blevins Bulletin
December 8th , 2023
September 27th 2024 Principal's Message
Hello Blevins Families,
I'm thrilled to invite you to our 1st Annual Bruin Bash on Friday, October 4th. This will be from 5:30-7pm in our front parking lot. Please note that this time has been changed from previous communications. At this event, we are celebrating the past, present, and future of Blevins. We hope to see the families of our current students, families of future students, and former families, students, and staff. Once a Bruin, always a Bruin!
This event also serves as our PTO fundraiser. The event will have food, games, and Blevins gear that can be acquired through tickets. The tickets purchased at the event go directly to our fundraiser. Throughout the coming week, students at school can also earn tickets for free and cash them in at the Bash. All PTO funds go directly to our students and staff through things like classroom resources, recess equipment, positive reinforcement goodies in our student store, and to support staff well-being (among so much more!). If you can't make it to the event, we will also be sending out a fundraising link all week. Thank you for any donation that you are willing to share!
Please look out for more information in the Bulletin below. I can't wait to celebrate with you there!
Proudly,
Joe Zappa, Principal

A Note from Blevins PTO
Hello Bruin Family!
We just wanted to drop a quick note on behalf of the Blevins PTO to say that we have been so impressed with the Students, Teachers and Staff this year as well as you, our Bruin Families, in the strength and support everyone has shown to kick off a wonderful new school year!
We are looking forward to our Fall Fundraiser which will be kicking off next week! With the craziness of last year, we unfortunately did not have the success we have seen in the past for this event so are hoping to turn that around this year and show our Bruin Pride and Strength in supporting our school! ALL money raised goes back into Blevins helping students, teachers and staff make Blevins a great place to learn, grow and succeed! Beginning Monday, we will send out the fundraiser link each day of the week. Any amount is appreciated and helps enable the success of our children!
We will also be combining this week with a Spirit Week and Fall Dance for the students that our WEB Leaders have worked hard to organize as well as our first Bruin Bash!! There will be food, games, prizes, music, and much more to help celebrate our Blevins community! Keep an eye out for a sign up email if you would like to contribute and help out. We are so excited for this event and look forward to bringing the community, students and families together to show that we are Bruin Strong!
Sincerely,
Blevins PTO
You're Invited to Blevins Middle School's BRUIN BASH!!
Fall Festival Dance
Students are welcome to come dance and have fun from 4:00pm - 5:30pm. Please note that this time has been changed from previous communications. There will be music, snacks and drinks to purchase, and fun activities in the gym! Students will need to pay $5 to enter. Only Blevins students are allowed to come join the fun. NOTE: If you are picking up your student from school or dropping them off at the dance, please do so at the back of our school in the West parking lot since our East lot will be closed for our Bruin Bash.
Bruin Bash
This is a free-entry event happening right after our dance from 5:30pm - 7:00pm in our front parking lot. Please note that this time has been changed from previous communications. If you would like to participate in our fun games and activities, you will need to purchase tickets at the front of the event. $5 gets you 10 tickets! There will be a Dump Tank, Pie in the Face, Popcorn, Mascot Dance-off, Bottle Toss, and more with chances to win cool prizes. Kona Ice truck will also be there, so please plan on bringing a few extra dollars if you would like a frozen treat (20% of what Kona makes will go back to Blevins). Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will also be sold at the event, so come hungry!
We will also have some fun performances from the RMHS Cheer team and Blevins Band.
This fundraising event will also have opportunities to donate or purchase items via cash or check and all proceeds go directly to our students. We have an amazing community, and we want this to be an event that celebrates our past, present and future Bruins! We can't wait to see you there!

Learn More About the November 5th Mill Levy
Dear PSD community:
At their Aug. 27, 2024, meeting, the Poudre School District Board of Education voted unanimously to refer a mill levy question to the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot. This mill levy, if approved by voters, will provide $49 million per year to improve and extend the useful life of the district’s school buildings and will allow the district to reprioritize more of its general fund for the recruitment and retention of teachers and staff, classroom resources, career and technical education, and neighborhood schools.
To ensure that our community has factual information about this mill levy, the district will host a series of community information sessions in September and October. These are open to the public and anyone who wishes to come learn more about the ballot measure and how it would impact the PSD system and our community are welcome. Each session will share the same information.
Information sessions will take place:
- Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m., Timnath Middle-High School Auditorium, 4700 Prospect Road, Timnath
- Thursday, Oct. 3, at 5:30 p.m., Wellington Middle-High School Auditorium, 2856 Cleveland Ave., Wellington
- Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m., Rocky Mountain High School Theater, 1300 W. Swallow Road, Fort Collins
- Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 5:30 p.m., Fort Collins High School Theater, 3400 Lambkin Way, Fort Collins
- Thursday, Oct. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Future Ready Center inside Foothills mall
The information sessions are being offered for transparency purposes only; these are not campaign events.
Simultaneous interpretation and translation via the district’s Instant Language Assistant (ILA) devices will be available at all sessions. If you would like oral interpretation, please bring wireless headphones that connect to your device to listen to the presentation.
For more information about the mill levy measure, including support and opposition statements, please visit the 2024 Mill Levy webpage on our website: https://www.psdschools.org/community/2024-mill-levy.
Sincerely,
Poudre School District

Important October Count Information
October Count is coming on OCTOBER 1st!
(PSD's count window is Sept. 24- Oct 8.)
What is October Count? It is simply making your student count in our education system. Per the Colorado Department of Education:
“The Student October Pupil Enrollment collection contains student enrollment information as of the pupil enrollment count date. This information is used to determine the school demographics, number of students in instructional programs, free and reduced lunch counts, and distribution of school finances across the state.”
Its very important to have your student in school during this time so your student and Blevins are accurately represented. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Melisa Zaug in the front office at 970-488-4044.

Here is an article we found helpful: The Teen Brain: 7 Things to Know
We want to help you help your students build resilience to thrive.
Some of the topics you can look forward to this year are as follows:
· September: Introduction to Building Resiliency
· October: Guest Speaker Dr. Brian Mesinger: Teaching and building resiliency
· November: Emotional Vocabulary
· December: Exposure/Brain Development
· January: Habits and Brain Development
· February: Self care, Self Acceptance, Inner Critic
· March: Regulation, Be in the Moment
· April: Executive Functioning
· May: Healthy Summer Choices
Please note that as a RMHS Student Services department, we are not trying to promote or support any one particular person, news source or entity. We simply want to share articles, information and tools that we have found helpful in our work with students and families.
This article covers how technology has influenced the way we look at mental health. Please read this article to help you and your student partner together as our society faces more mental health challenges. How Anxiety Became Content
