🥁 New Instruments for Secondary School Bands, Thanks to Arts Millage Funds!
We're thrilled to share that many of our secondary schools have received brand new band instruments through the Arts Millage Funds! Music programs are a vital part of student development, fostering creativity, discipline, and collaboration. Thanks to this much-needed funding, students across the district now have access to the instruments they need to enhance their music education.
These new instruments will not only help our students improve their musical skills but also empower them to excel in performances, competitions, and personal growth. We are incredibly grateful for the community's support through the Arts Millage, which continues to enrich the arts and ensure that our students have the tools to thrive.
Keep an eye out for performances showcasing these talented young musicians and their new equipment!
🪡 Fine Craft Studio I Students Embark on a Year-Long Hand-Embroidery Project
Hilliard Middle-Senior High's Fine Craft Studio I students are diving into the art of hand-embroidery! They've been learning essential stitches as they prepare to begin an exciting year-long project called "Stitch a Memory a Week."
Throughout the year, each student will use their new embroidery skills to stitch a meaningful memory from their week, creating a beautiful and personal collection of embroidered moments. This hands-on project not only teaches technical skills but also encourages reflection, creativity, and self-expression.
We can’t wait to see the amazing stories these students will stitch together by the end of the year!

🎶 Honoring 9/11 with a Musical Tribute
At Callahan Middle School, our talented band students recently delivered a poignant performance of "Taps" in honor of those whose lives were lost on September 11th. Their heartfelt rendition captured the solemnity and reverence of this significant day, reminding us of the sacrifices made and the unity that binds us.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication and for sharing their musical talents in such a meaningful way. Their tribute serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience that define our community.
Thank you to our students and band director for this moving performance and for keeping the memory of 9/11 alive through music.

6th graders in Ms. Perry's art class at Yulee Middle had the exciting opportunity to experience the art of printmaking. They learned about the invention of linoleum and how it was soon recognized as a gainful art medium. Students had the unique chance to carve designs into rubber printmaking blocks and apply ink to create fantastic linocut artworks. Way to go Yulee Middle School!
