ELAC Meeting and Title 1 Meeting
Our school has a federally funded Title I program to help students be successful in reading by giving qualifying students extra help. All children are eligible to receive this additional instruction from a credentialed teacher five days a week. The lessons are designed to meet the academic needs of each student.
Student participation in the Title I program is based on multiple measures, not a single criterion. Some examples of the assessments and information that could be used to determine a child’s eligibility for Title I services are: teacher recommendation, students at risk of not meeting grade level standards, SVUSD progress reports, district Language Arts Assessments and students performing below proficient level on the Smarter Balance Assessment.
To explain more about the Title I program and the services your child may receive, we have scheduled a Title I Parent Orientation meeting on Tuesday, September 10th at 8:15 AM in the auditorium. We hope you can join us for this meeting.
Early Release Day- Wednesday, September 11th
Wednesday is an early release day for all students in the district. All students at Berylwood will be dismissed at 12:00 PM. Please make the appropriate arrangements to pick up your children on time.
A Free Book for All Students
Recently, Southern California Helpful Honda asked their social media followers to nominate a school in need to receive FREE books as part of the SoCal Helpful Honda Back-to-School Drive. Berlywood Elementary School was nominated!
We are very excited that all of our students will receive a free book on Wednesday, September 11th. Representatives from Southern California Helpful Honda and district office employees will be on site with us to share in this great opportunity.
Toppers Pizza Night
Our first dine out night will be Tuesday, September 10th at Toppers Pizza from 3:30-9:00 PM. Our school will get credit for sales during this time when our flyer is presented at the counter. Toppers Pizza will donate 20% of sales generated by our school.

School Rules
We have been teaching and reviewing our school rules with all students since we started the new year. Our rules are:
1. Be Respectful
2. Be Responsible
3. Be Safe
We have posters up in our common areas (cafeterias, hallways, playgrounds and bathrooms) to help remind students of behavior expectations.
Breakfast
Students at Berylwood have the opportunity to get a free breakfast at school each day. It is served from 7:30-7:55 AM. If your child will have breakfast at school please be sure they get to school with enough time to eat it before school begins at 8:00 AM.
Student Attendance
Student attendance is important! Students are building routines and learning everyday. Start building good attendance habits early so students learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important.
Attendance Phone Messages
If you call the office and leave a message for your child's absence please include the following information: Student's full name, student's teacher, room number, and the reason why the student is absent. Please speak slowly when providing the information so we can clear the absence. If any of the information is left out or we can't understand what is being stated in the message we are not able to clear the absence. Thank you!
School Uniforms
Students are expected to wear their uniform daily. Students will wear a light blue polo or other collared blue shirt and dark solid blue bottoms. Any jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt with appropriate words and pictures is acceptable. Berylwood shirts may be worn on Fridays. Uniforms can be found at Old Navy, Target, Walmart, or Kohl's.
Visitors/Volunteers on Campus
All Simi Valley Schools use the Raptor Visitor Management System. This web-based software provides a sophisticated check-in and check-out system for all visitors coming to our schools and facilities. In addition to providing a data trail of visitors to our sites, this system will provide details of each visit, produce visitor badges, check-in/out all visitors, and electronically search each visitor’s information against national registered sexual offender databases. If you are scheduled to volunteer on campus you will need to complete the volunteer paperwork and provide a copy of your current state issued photo ID prior to helping at school. Each volunteer session you will need to bring your state issued ID so we can print your badge. Feel free to call our office at (805) 520-6705 with any questions.
