STO APPLICATIONS DUE IN 12 DAYS
All parents have the right to choose the best education for their children. We ask that all families apply for STO. The application deadline is April 15th. This charitable organization receives voluntary donations from Iowa taxpayers and allocates those funds in grants for students who attend accredited non-public schools. 90% of the money from STO must go back out in tuition grants. All K-12 students who reside in Iowa and whose household’s taxable income is at or below 400% of the federal poverty rate are eligible for STO grants. STO grants are not available for preschool students. If you need assistance, please contact Heather Bullerman at 563-562-3617 or hbullerman@st-teresa.pvt.k12.ia.us.
Mary's Meals
Students at the Ossian and Spillville sites were treated to presentations for Mary’s Meals. Students were informed about the global issue of childhood hunger. Ellen MIller, an ambassador for Mary’s Meals, shared the mission of feeding children at their place of education. She connected students in Iowa to the 2.4 million served throughout the world. Students were served porridge similar to what children in the feeding program eat. Mary’s Meals work is based on three major tenets: confidence in the innate goodness of people, respecting the dignity of every human being and family life, and the belief in good stewardship of resources entrusted to us. Third grade Lucas Schatz, recently featured as KCRG TV 9 student of the month, started raising funds for Mary’s Meals by donating monetary gifts he received for First Holy Communion. Determined to raise enough funds for a class of 14 students, Lucas and many others have graciously contributed to this cause. Thank you to Lucas, Krystal and Andrew Schatz for taking the Lenten portion of almsgiving to a higher level! Thank you to the third grade class, Mrs. Conway and everyone who supported Lucas in working towards his goal.
