Edition: September 30 - October 4
"I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
-Lucy Maud Montgomery
Happy October! As we embrace the beautiful change of seasons, our classrooms are buzzing with energy and enthusiasm for learning. Students are immersed in hands-on projects and collaborative activities, fostering both academic and social growth. We appreciate your partnership in making this a fantastic year for our children!
Feedback Needed!
MERSD Elementary Schools are undergoing the accreditation process through New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). On October 22nd, the visiting team from NEASC is looking to meet with a panel of guardians to gain their perspective on our strengths and areas of growth. I am still looking for 3 parent/guardian volunteers to participate in this panel.
This panel is on Tuesday, 10/22 from 2:00-2:30 in the Memorial Elementary Project Room. If you are available to participate, please email Kim Provost (provostk@mersd.org).
Coin Challenge to Support Those Impacted by Hurricane Helene
Students of our Grades 4/5 Student Leadership Council are hoping our school community can band together to support those that were devastated by the impact of Hurricane Helene. In order to raise funds to donate to the Red Cross, we will be having a Classroom Coin Challenge next week. Each classroom will have a jar to collect change. The classroom to collect the most change will earn something special! All donations will go to Hurricane Helene relief and recovery efforts.
Clay Play!
Learning About Erosion
Mass Audubon came to teach our 4th grade students all about coastal erosion. Here, students compare and contrast sand from three different nearby beaches.
Buddies!
Fifth graders buddy up with kindergarten students to play some math games.
