Brown School Buzz
December 5, 2023

Dear Brown School Families,
One of my favorite views is looking out at our students and staff when we are all gathered together. This happens at assemblies, community meetings, and of course at special events, and it always makes me smile. This Friday when come together as a school community, we will explain to our students that sometimes we come together to celebrate, sometimes to honor, and sometimes we come together to remember.
Memorial Day Weekend is often referred to as the unofficial start of summer. We look forward to a long weekend, family get-togethers, parades, and cookouts and catching up. On Monday, May 27, 2024, Americans across the country will celebrate, honor and remember the servicemen and servicewomen who died in service to our country. Marblehead's Memorial Day activities start with a service at Clark's Landing at 8:00 AM. Veterans will leave from the Old Town House on Washington Street and march along Pleasant Street to Memorial Park, with the main parade then proceeding from Spring Street to Elm Street.
I am hoping all our Brown School families are able to spend some time together playing and smiling this weekend. I would also encourage you talk about Memorial Day as a family, and take a moment to celebrate, remember and honor those who lost their lives in service to our country.
Wishing you all a safe and healthy Memorial Day Weekend!
Mary

Visitor Safety at the Brown School
Visitor and Volunteer Reminders
Visiting the school or classroom: Visitors to our school are asked to produce a driver's license to run through our security system. When there is a classroom event, and several parents arrive a few minutes before the start of the event, the process can take some time. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early to your scheduled event so we can get everyone to classrooms in a timely manner.
Chaperoning or Volunteering: Chaperoning and volunteering in the school requires a CORI and fingerprinting. CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) must be completed every 3 years.
Getting a CORI and fingerprinting takes a little time. If you even think you might want to volunteer at anytime, please get your CORI and fingerprints.
Below is a link to our website to begin the process:

Thank you for your volunteerism and your cooperation to help keep our schools safe.
