5 Essentials Survey
We need your help!
Each year at this time, the Illinois State Board of Education releases the 5Essentials Survey for parents, students and staff to complete. This anonymous survey provides our school and district with important feedback that we use to guide our ongoing efforts to improve our school and continue to offer our students a supportive environment and excellent education. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand your perspective of MES and guide improvement.
Survey will open on February 18. We will send each family an email.

Weโre excited to educate, inspire, and share these important stories with our MES community!
February Family Event: A Night to Celebrate MES Students
2025 PTO Sponsored Winter Ball
Mascoutah Elementary School and the PTO are thrilled to host a special event for any active MES student and their parent/guardian/loved one! Each student can bring up to two parents, guardians, or caregivers to join in the celebration.
This event is designed to be all-inclusive, ensuring that every MES student has the opportunity to be celebrated. Itโs a time for families to create special memories together.
Please note, this is not a dance where students ask one another to attend, but rather an opportunity for students to invite their family members to join them. While at the event, students will have plenty of opportunities to take group photos and enjoy the evening with their friends.
Tickets are $5 per person (regardless of age), and the event will be held at Mascoutah High School (MHS). An email with details on how to purchase tickets will be sent out two weeks prior to the event.
We canโt wait to see you there! Letโs make this a night to remember!

Desk of Nurse Katie
Please ensure that the parent/guardian phone contact information on file at school is current and provide an emergency contact number in addition to yourself. Unfortunately, children can become ill or injured at any time during the school day. It is vital for their health and wellbeing to have alternative contact information available if for any reason you cannot be reached or are unavailable. Please note the school district policy located in our handbook states:
โIf it is determined your child needs to go home due to illness or injury, a guardian will be notified and shall provide or arrange immediate transportation. The guardian will ensure that the school office has current phone contact(s). Please report any contact information changes as these occur.โ
Winter is Here
January and February are often the coldest months of the year in Southern Illinois. We want to remind you that students will continue to go outside for recess unless the windchill temperature drops below 20 degrees. Please consider sending extra hats and gloves for students to keep in their locker. Remember to label all hats/coats/lunch boxes with your child's name.
