Principal's Message
Starting Monday, SFiAM will implement a new cell phone policy to support our students in reducing their dependence on electronic devices. This important step will help improve student focus during school hours, strengthen social skills through peer interaction, and promote overall mental well-being.
Each student will be issued a Yondr pouch to store their phone throughout the school day. As they enter in the morning, they will show a staff member their locked pouch, and at the end of the day, students will unlock their pouches before leaving campus.
A few key points for parents:
๐ If you need to reach your child for any reason, please call the office at (818) 837-5455, and we will either relay the message or have your child call you.
๐ฑ Students will always have their phones with them inside their locked pouch.
๐จ In the event of an emergency, pouches will be unlocked when it is safe to do so. It is crucial that students remain focused on their teachers during emergencies for their safety.
If you have any questions about this policy, please donโt hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your support in making our school environment more focused, connected, and engaging for all students!
Reminder โ New Cell Phone Policy Starts Monday
Starting Monday, our new cell phone policy will go into effect to help students stay focused, strengthen social connections, and support their overall well-being during the school day. To ensure a smooth transition, we will follow a special schedule (see below), which includes time in advisory for students to receive and set up their Yondr pouches.
Each student will be issued a Yondr pouch to store their phone throughout the day. If a student is absent, their pouch will be held for them. If a student misplaces their pouch, they will need to visit the office for assistance.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing this policy at home and helping us create a more focused and connected learning environment for all students. If you have any questions, please donโt hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for being a valued part of our SFiAM community!
Monday Schedule
On Monday, we will follow a special schedule, starting the day with a one-hour homeroom/advisory period. During this time, students will receive their Yondr pouches for safely storing their cell phones throughout the school day. Thank you for your support as we implement this important step toward a more focused and engaged learning environment!
Monitoring Student Progress in iReady
This week, we will be checking student progress in iReady, our online learning program that helps strengthen math and reading skills. To support their growth, students are expected to complete at least two lessons per week.
We encourage you to check in with your child about their progress and remind them to stay on track. Your support at home makes a big difference in their success!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for being a valued part of our SFiAM community!
Weekly Advisory Lessons
Advisory plays an important role in fostering social-emotional growth and creating a positive school environment. It also aligns with our No Room to Hate campaign, which encourages respect, inclusion, and kindness in our community. Each week, students participate in advisory lessons that include engaging videos and discussions to help them build important life skills.
Additionally, Math Monday is a key part of advisory, reinforcing essential math skills to support student success.

SFiAM No Room to Hate Campaign
SFiAM is launching the No Room to Hate campaignโa schoolwide initiative aimed at fostering a more inclusive and respectful school climate. This campaign directly addresses the use of language that may be perceived as offensive or harmful, ensuring that we approach these issues with education, understanding, and connection before correction.
Creating a safe and welcoming environment requires all of us to be involved and proactive. The No Room to Hate campaign calls on our entire community to take a standโsilence is not an option. Together, we will model what it means to be upstanders and reinforce our commitment to a school culture built on respect and kindness.
