JROTC Raiders Team Takes 3rd at Nationals
OHS's JROTC Raiders teams recently traveled to Ft. Knox, Kentucky, for the the largest Raider competition in history and came home with a third place overall win! They also placed first and set a new record for the one rope bridge, placed fourth in the gauntlet, placed fifth in 5k terrain run, placed fifth in the cross country litter run, and placed fourth in the physical training test! Great job Raiders! What a great finish to a phenomenal season!
Girls Cross Country Place 13th at State!!
Congrats to the girls varsity cross country team who placed 13th overall at the state meet in Columbia and are the top team from Southwest Missouri! We’re so proud of you and Congrats on a great season!! Read more about their awesome season below!
Five OHS Student make All-State Choir
Congrats to five OHS choir students who made all-state choir! Seniors Matthew Baum, Harleigh Preston and Kamryn Mayfield all will perform with the all-state choir in January. Junior Ella Hulse is an alternate and junior Andrew Shuford received an honorable mention! Congrats to all our awesome choir students.
Boys Soccer Win District Championship!
Bringing home some new hardware! The OHS boys soccer team is the 2023 Class 4 District 5 Champions after defeating Nixa 3-1 last night! We are so proud of these players who have proved that hard work, dedication, and teamwork pay off! Congrats guys! The team takes on Rockhurst in the state quarterfinals this Saturday at home! Come cheer on the Tigers!
This week, we are honoring our girls varsity cross country team as our athletes of the week! The team recently traveled to Columbia where they competed at the state meet and placed 13th overall, making them the top team in Southwest Missouri.
Sophomore Ellsie Estes led the team by placing 16th to claim All-State honors. She was followed by Senior Madison Felton (89th), Junior Laine Garner (92nd), Sophomore Sydney Lister (94th), Senior Kimber Surface (144th), Allie Mills (158th), and Sophomore Kaylee Johnson (159th).
"We challenged the girls during the summer to move the jersey forward (leave the program in a better place at the end of season)," Head Coach Mitchell Furtkamp said. "Their commitment, work ethic, and connection to each other allowed our girls' program to reach new heights. They all chose to show up each day and be 1 percent better. All the accomplishments of this team are directly tied to the sacrifices these girls made throughout the past five months. They slayed, and we are very proud of them."

This week, OHS junior Olivia Carpenter has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Olivia is a member of the varsity girls tennis team and was a part of one of Ozark top doubles team. She was also one of the players who attended state this year!

This week, we've got several artists of the week! We're honoring seniors Matthew Baum, Harleigh Preston and Kamryn Mayfield and juniors Ella Hulse and Andrew Shuford who all received all-state choir recognition ! Matthew, Harleigh and Kamryn will all go on to perform with the rest of the all-state choir in January. Ella is an alternate and Andrew received an honorable mention!

This week OHS sophomore Cayden Irons is being honored as our Tiger of the Week! Cayden is a member of OHS's student council, where he is an important leader, according to sponsor Betsy Rice.
"Cayden’s enthusiasm and ability to organize events and delegate tasks allows student council to host several student events throughout the school year," she said. "His energy the past two years has led to movie nights, a fundraiser for Rescue One, and teacher appreciation/support. He is goal-oriented and has a passion for school spirit. Cayden works well with administration and has presented to the Ozark School Board several times to share information about the events student council hosts each month."
Cayden said he loves being a part of student council.
“I love getting to be in student council," Cayden said. "Spreading school spirit, creating fun events, and advocating for the student body are things I am proud to be a part of. I am thrilled with what STUCO has been able to accomplish just in the first quarter of the school year. I am excited to showcase all of the ideas that we have planned for the student body during the rest of the school year."

JROTC Helps Honor Retiring Master Sergeant
OHS's JROTC Color Guard recently helped honor Master Sergeant Nicola Mozingo at her retirement ceremony from the Air Force. Mozingo is a teacher at Ozark Junior High. Read more about her service to her country and Ozark here.
Educators Rising Students Present at Missouri School Board Conference
Recently five members of OHS's Educators Rising showed off their passion for education at the Missouri School Board Associations Student Showcase at a conference in Kansas City! We love seeing our students showcase how awesome Ozark is!

This Saturday 11/11 at Tiger Stadium come cheer on your OHS boys soccer team as they take on Rockhurst in the state quarterfinals! The first 70 students to show up with their Ozark student IDs get in for free courtesy of the OHS Booster Club who will be paying for your ticket. Tickets are $8 and must be purchased before hand through MSHSAA (use the QR code to purchase tickets). Come support your Tigers and thank you to the Booster Club for supporting our students!

Meet Ozark Alum, Sam Day!
Sam Day (Class of ' 12) is just one of Ozark's fabulous alumni! Day is best known for his time as a member of OHS's band program where he played clarinet and made All-State band three years in a row (2010, 2011 & 2012). Since graduating, Day got his undergraduate degree in clarinet performance from MSU, his masters in clarinet performance for North Texas University and he is currently working on his doctorate in clarinet performance at New England Conservatory of Music. He also plays clarinet professionally including performing as a part of the Our Planet Live in Concert US Tour, which is a live concert series based on the Netflix documentary series "Our Planet".
