TO GIVE IS TO RECEIVE
Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating them with dignity. Respect is valuing ourselves and others. We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy.
Prayer
God of wonder,
On the day we were born you began your work in us.
We know that you continue to work not only in us but through us,
Help us be good servants, always doing your work with open and eager hearts.
Whatever comes our way today, keep us positive and peaceful,
always mindful of your presence and sustaining love amongst us.
Give us strength and courage to experience fully each moment of this day.
Heal all that is painful in us and give us your peace.
Watch over us, protect and guide us throughout this and every day. Amen.
From the Principal - Ms Walsh
Dear Parents and Carers,
The numbers have been creeping up all week and it is nice to finally be able to say that from Monday, May 18, we will be returning to face-to-face teaching. It certainly has been an adventure but I'm sure that many families will be happy to see students returning to this mode of instruction. Please take the time to read through the Advice for Parents/Carers information sheet so that you are aware of your obligations should your child not be returning. The document covers a number of contingencies (e.g canteen, swimming pool etc) that are not applicable in our context however, in effect, if your child isn't returning medical evidence is required. All families should have received a letter from me earlier today. In case you missed it a copy is provided here. A number of resources have been made available to assist parents/carers at this time. These can be located here.
SCHOOL ARRANGEMENTS
I would sincerely like to thank the staff at Orana CPS for their commitment to the students ensuring that the Online Learning program has been the success it has been. Our staff worked above and beyond so that the students received the best possible education in these unusual times. They have been responsive to feedback and welcomed the opportunity to maintain their connection with students via pastoral phone calls in the past couple of week.
I would also like to thank you, the parents and carers of Orana, for the messages of support that we have received. Your acknowledgement of the efforts of staff during the pandemic has been greatly appreciated and we are looking forward to having the students back in our rooms next week. While it seems that the current crisis has eased, we still have a number of measures in place to ensure the ongoing health and wellbeing of staff and students.
PICK UP and DROP OFF
Pick up and drop off will continue as it has for the last two weeks. If your child is in Pre-Kindy, Kindy or Pre-primary, please use the admin entry to drop and collect these students along with older siblings if applicable. If your child is in Years 1-6 please enter the drive through area from the second entry gate in Querrin Avenue and line up for green shed pick up and drop off. PLEASE do not enter via the admin area for older students as it becomes a safety risk for smaller children. Pre-Kindy and Kindy Pick-up is 2.45 pm, Pre-Primary is 3.00 pm (older siblings will be released to leave at this time as well) the rest of the school is 3.10 pm. Parents and Carers are asked not to arrive more than 5 minutes early as early arrivals are causing congestion along Querrin Ave and ultimately Vahland Avenue. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you need to collect students during the day you are asked to phone the office 15 minutes ahead of your arrival and we will arrange for your child to wait for you in the admin area. On arrival, we will watch them walk to your vehicle.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
Due to the current restrictions in place within schools at the moment, we have rescheduled school photos for later in the year. Once we have confirmation of a date, we will share this information with the school community.
ENROL NOW KINDY AND PRE-KINDY 2021
We are now reviewing Kindy and Pre-Kindy Enrolments for 2021. If you have not lodged your child’s application for Kindy or Pre-Kindy 2021, please contact the office on 9376 8300 or email admin@orana.wa.edu.au to have one emailed to you. Interviews will take place later this term.
RETIREMENT
Ms Conny Whyte will be retiring on May 29 after 42 years in Catholic Education with 25 of them here at Orana! We wish Ms Whyte every blessing as she leaves and pray for a restful retirement filled with fun and happiness.
Have a restful weekend and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday.
God bless
