West Oxford Owl

I am so incredibly proud of all the hard work and effort our students put in this week on their EOGs. Those tests are hard, but they applied the skills they have learned, working out the math problems and using text evidence to identify the correct answers. They took their time and worked hard. Regardless of their final score, we are so proud of them, and you should be too. Fifty seven students increased their scale score on at least one of their tests by at least ten points. This is very difficult, and those students learned Friday that they have earned the trip to Galaxy Fun Park. There were many students who worked hard and did not qualify, and I know that there were students who were disappointed. Please make sure to talk to them about the fact that we are still proud of them, that we know they worked hard, and that we will have other opportunities for adventures. Science and Read To Achieve scores will drop Monday, and we will send home official letters with information about remediation and readministration for those who need it. We will also have official individual student reports for you alongside the end of year iReady and mClass reports. Our students are not defined by these numbers, and each of them has grown this year in ways we can't show you in a paper chart.
On Tuesday, we recognized all of our volunteers at our volunteer tea. There are a host of ways to volunteer at West Oxford from the PTO to the Reading Buddies program. We have 26 Reading Buddies who meet with students weekly, and I know the experience is valuable to both the kids and the grown ups.
We have one more week, and it is a full one! The PBIS block party is Tuesday, June 4th. It costs 100 dojo points to attend. Our Growth Parade is Wednesday, June 5th at 9:00. Please come and celebrate your children's accomplishments this year with us! The final Awards Day for the year is June 6th for K-4th. Fifth grade promotion ceremony will take place on June 7th at 9:00. PreK promotion is at 11:00 on June 7th. The last day of school is June 7th. It is an early release day. We will dismiss at 11:45.
Happy last week of school everyone!
