NMSHS PANTHER POST
AUGUST 16, 2024
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - Mr. Goodrich
Nederland Middle-Senior HS Community,
Our first Friday has arrived. All of our students have started their classes and have been meeting their teachers. It brings a tremendous amount of joy to see students back in the building. They are the main reason why we do what we do.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone attend our Back to School Night on Monday evening. We have over 20 tables set up in the high school gym to help parents learn about our extracurricular programs. Additionally, we have two meetings scheduled for middle school and high school parents before we start the scheduled walk through teacher classrooms (please attend):
Middle level parents meeting is from 5:10 to 5:30
High school parents meeting is from 5:40-6:00
Parents will follow their students Wednesday schedules from 6:10 to 7:30.
The PTA will be providing pizza, light appetizers and cookies starting at 5:00, so please come early and get your parking spot in the front or back parking lot. Excess parking will be on the road in front of the school.
This time of the year we start to reach out to parents who have the time and energy to help support the school. The most popular way to get involved is to join the PTA. Joining the PTA is a way to pitch in and contribute to school. We hope every parent can find some time during the year to lend a hand.
Have a great weekend!

We will miss having Ms. Sievers out there, but look forward to getting all riders back on their bikes! If you haven’t already, be sure to register and upload your physical.
Middle School Cross Country Families
Practice starts this coming Wednesday, August 21. Bring running clothes, water, and a good attitude. Mr. DePaula will be your interim coach, and he’s going to be assisted by High School Coaches Kathy Butler and Gavin Coombs. It’s not too late to register, upload your physical, and pay the fee!

Unfortunately, we only had 4 registrations and no coaching applicants, so we will not have a team. Please consider signing up for Mountain Bike or Cross Country in the meantime!
High School Students & Families
All High School Athletes will have the chance to buy warm-up tops and bottoms at a significant discount. They can be used across all sports. The total cost for both tops and bottoms will be less than $100 and likely closer to $75. Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks!
ALL Students & Families
When you get your next physical, it is very important that your physician completes the Student Medical Eligibility Form (Page 4). CHSAA is requiring this page be used for all future physicals, and beginning during the 2025-2026 school year, any student that does not have this physical paper uploaded will not be able to participate.
Senior Athlete Photos
Senior Athletes make plans now to stay after school on Thursday August 22, 2024 for your athletic photo for the banners to be hung in the High School gym. If you’ve played sports during your NMSHS career we want you to have a photo taken. We want to honor you all you’ve contributed to our school. Please email Ms Turnburke (janet.turnburke@bvsd.org)with a list of the sports you have participated in while here at Nederland.

Back to School Night Agenda
Backpacks and School Supplies
We still have a few backpacks and school supplies if you need them. Stop by the front office. Thanks to Impact on Education for this generous donation.
School Parking, Drop Off and Pick Up
Our student parking for Juniors and Seniors is in the front of the school in the parking spaces facing Eldora Rd.; our staff parking is in the spaces facing the school. There is overflow parking behind the field for students and staff.
Morning drop off is in the left lane of the drive through in front of the school. The right lane is reserved for buses only, until after the buses have left around 8:20 am. Drop off works best when students quickly exit the vehicle and parents continue to drive through to the exit.
If you arrive to pick up your student before buses depart around 3:55pm, please pull straight through the west side drive to the back parking lot behind the field and pull into the right hand lane. You can wait for your student to meet you there.
Students being picked up by a parent/guardian in the back parking lot, may exit the building through the west doors that you use to get to the soccer field. You do not need to exit through the front door.
After all the buses have departed around 3:55, you may pick up your student in the circle drive in front of the school. Please do not use either lane of this drive until after 3:55 or the buses are gone.
We will have school personnel stationed in the back parking lot to ensure student safety.
Please always use caution in the school parking lots. Students - do not cross in front of buses or cars except in crosswalks. Parents and student drivers - watch for students at all times, especially when backing out of parking spaces.
