Dear Families
It’s been another exciting and action-packed week at school, and I am delighted to share some of the highlights with you.
On Monday, we had a return visit from Callum Russell. Callum returned to give Visual Impairment Awareness Assemblies to our main school. It was a delight to welcome Callum back to our school, and our students and staff alike have learnt valuable insights into visual impairments during Callum's visit.
On Tuesday, some of our Year 8 students enjoyed an enriching trip to Sky Studios, where they participated in a variety of engaging activities. These included a pre-visit masterclass, an XR Studio experience, and a careers challenge, among many other exciting opportunities. The students had a fantastic time and returned with positive feedback, describing the day as both fun and insightful.
On Wednesday, we were privileged to welcome Michele Miller, who conducted seminars for our Year 11 and Year 13 students on effective revision techniques. Later in the evening, over 150 parents and guardians attended a similar session, which provided valuable insights into how to support students in their revision journey. We also had our BET QE review on Wednesday, which was overwhelmingly positive; an encouraging reflection of the dedication and hard work from everyone across the school.
On Thursday we celebrated European Languages Day and hosted an array of activities for our students. We held a cake baking competition, a 'passport scheme' which saw Years 7 and 8 race around the school collecting simple language phrases from different members of staff, and after school we held a European food sale.
Throughout the week, our students have been involved in various sports fixtures, delivering some fantastic performances. Among our notable results are:
- Year 11 boys football team had an incredible 8-3 win against Orleans Park.
- Year 9 netball team delivered a dominant performance, winning 30-3 against Turning House.
- Year 10/11 netball team secured a win of 13-9 against Turing House.
- In a thrilling football cup match, our Year 8 boys came back from 1-0 down to draw 1-1 before heading into penalties. With some heroic saves from goalkeeper Danny in Year 8 who stopped two penalties, we secured an impressive comeback victory against Thamesmead School in the English Schools FA Cup.
Well done to all involved for your hard work and determination!
Looking ahead, a reminder that school will close at 12:20 on Wednesday to allow for preparations for our Open Evening. If you know anyone interested in attending, please direct them to our website to book a place.
We are updating our Attendance Policy in line with the latest DfE guidance, and this has been approved by our governing board this week. More details will follow next week.
Finally, I’d like to remind all students that we expect everyone to be in school on Monday at 08:30, wearing full school uniform in line with our uniform policy. Please ensure you are ready for the start of another productive week.
Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you all next week!
Kind regards

Dear Families
We had a lovely day celebrating languages on Thursday. It was particularly great to see so many students, especially in Year 7, racing around the school to collect ‘stamps’ in their language passports. The canteen put on a delicious selection of European foods and the snack sale at the day was extremely popular also.
Bakers - please don’t forget to enter the cake competition (with a linguistic theme). Entries for this are due in on 2 October, and the winner will be voted for at open evening.
We are so proud of you for making this a great day! Fun fact - Did you know that at last count around 63 different languages are spoken by students and staff at Teddington!
Kind regards

Trip to Sky Up Studios, Elstree
Our Year 8 students embarked on an exciting trip to Sky Studios in Elstree, where they had the opportunity to experience the world of television and media production first-hand. The day was packed with activities designed to inspire their creativity and introduce them to the vast array of careers available in the media industry.
One of the highlights of the day was getting to experiment with the iconic green screens used in television and film production. Students were able to create their own scripts, act them out, and see how special effects could bring their ideas to life. The excitement in the air was palpable as they stepped into the shoes of directors, actors, and producers for the day.
Another memorable moment was seeing the actual Jeep used in the filming of Jurassic Park 2, a piece of movie history right before their eyes! The students were thrilled to witness how props and vehicles play a vital role in creating the magic of blockbuster films.
The trip also offered a deeper look into the various career pathways available at Sky. From content creation to technology, marketing, and production, students learned about the many roles that keep a major media company running smoothly. They even had the chance to participate in a Q&A session with an employee who had gone through Sky’s prestigious graduate scheme. This provided valuable insight into the steps they could take in the future if they were interested in pursuing a career in the media industry.
